My thinking on BMs is that I've never owned one, so I'd like to try the full experience with a funny front end too. I know the R NineT doesn't fit that though.

I like them (although too tall for me I think) but after more than a few seconds of consideration I always think it's a lot to spend on something to use as a fun bike.
The ADV version is not cheap. I suspect the regular version would be better off road.

My friend with an Africa Twin got it on a really good deal....can't remember the specifics, but his is a plain coloured one from the previous model year, he paid a few grand under list at a very low interest rate.
The one with gold wheels and white/blue/red colour scheme is alot pricier.
If you can get accept that you don't need 100bhp+ on today's crowded roads, the MT07 is a great commuter. But if you fancy green-laning, the Tenere version comes in fancy colours...
I should probably clarify the 'fast ish' requirement.
I like being able to open the throttle and leave 90% of road users behind up to about 100mph. For me a bike needs to feel at least a bit fast, I can't deny that's part of the appeal of ownership. Not talking crazy superbike speed requirements but it's gotta be fast enough I can't just hang the throttle open everywhere.
I also totally get that you don't need to go fast to have fun. The 5TA has less than 30bhp even on a good day, so I'm going nowhere in a hurry on that! Probably just as well once you've experienced the 5" single leading shoe brake.
I've got a BMW R1200S & it's got after market raised clip ons which give it a relaxed sports touring riding position. Boxer BMs are strange beasts though & not to everyones taste.
The Triumph Street Triple on your list is a hoot to ride but it's very small so if you are a big lad it may not work for you.
Have you seen the new Speed Triple RS? It was announced this week & looks to be an awesome package

Street and Speed triple wise....my Dad had Street Triple R back in about 2015, it always stuck me as quite small but not necessarily in a bad way. I'm 5ft 11 and 12st so not exactly dominating a bike

You can do that on virtually everything 600cc and above. I could do that on a ZXR400 (admittedly after dropping a couple of gears)

See reply above - virtually anything will meet that requirement, unless your idea of fun is dual-carriageways for the rest of your life.

As said above the Boxer engines are a strange beast till you get used to them. The newer ones are a lot more "revvy" and feel more responsive. My older GS1150 had a load of torque and would pull quite well but its the only bike the missus said scared her when she was on the back. The reason she gave was she was used to my 636 inline 4 which would scream when overtaking and pull fairly fast because of the usual the usual up and down the gearbox routine on sports 600's. Overtaking on the big GS didnt give that engine noise or initial pull and despite everything being perfectly safe she always felt at the start of overtakes it would be close or not enough room, then relief when it was all done with loads of room to spare.
Strangely she doesnt feel that on the V Twin Ducati as it has the go and noise she associates with speed and is quite relaxed about overtakes according to her ....... fuck all to do with the GS having mid 70 BHP and the Ducati 150 BHP of course, oh no not at all
