Re: Uk Media
I don't think there are any journalists left anywhere in the UK media, they all appear to regurgitate press releases and consider it journalism, the BBC is especially shite as it doesn't need to chase ratings and should be doing a much better job.
I worked for a daily newspaper 20 years ago and the journalism had gone to pot then, the owners were interested in advertising revenue not news, the marketing people (selling advertising space) were paid more and treated a lot better than the journalists.

Re: Uk Media
I think the saying is the people get the media they deserve.
Most has bias or spin but it's pretty obvious and you can take a broad view and come to reasonable conclusions. Plus there are some pretty straight edge options.
A bigger issue IMO is how some sections of the media influence political agendas.

While this may demonstrate my own personal bias, I generally find that the right wing conservative approach is dialogue and left wing much prefer censorship. FWIW I include Ben Shapiro, De Souza, J Peterson among my "trusted" list while I DO NOT necessarily agree with EVERYTHING they say (ffs) at least they provide a reasoned argument.
What is interesting is other peoples early responses to this scenario. Anyone here changed their minds due to recent events?

Or am I still a nutjob fantasist, divorced from reality, fearful of some lizard thing because I distrust the BBC?

Re: Uk Media
The same people who complain about a biased media are the same people who regurgitate the mantra about not living in an echo chamber, lest you only hear the views of those on your wavelength.
As somebody who'll happily snort with derision at both The Telegraph and The Grauniad you should acknowledge and appreciate my stance and views on all things and not listen to anybody else.

Ben Shapiro https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnQC_G ... fEJKuIcrSw
Dinesh D'Sousa https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8GAOC ... ExaUCvwL4Q
Jordan Peterson https://www.youtube.com/user/JordanPetersonVideos
I just noticed I don't "subscribe" to those channels but they pop up in various news topics on YouTube. So I just link to their channels for reference. I can sub select some of my favourites, the infamous "Cathy Newman" interview or Shapiro, D'Sousa responding to SJW's invading their stage discussions. They are hilarious...

He genuinely didn't believe that it wasn't a satire comic type piss take newspaper with fake stories -
A few decades ago it was the 'Bomber on the moon' Sport stories, decades before that it was the Sunday newspapers expose stories, etc.

While you've been ranting about anything and everything, I've been snorkelling and seen some amazing stuff.

Oops my bad. OK:

The rest of the UK stuff is a strange mixture of automated text to video and I find very few actual UK based commentators which are not one one lunatic fringe or the other. The US based media are discussing topics which (I submit) do apply this side of the pond.
I hear you though. No more cross posting.
I better go do some work now anyway or I risk ending up living on a dead volcano in the arse end of nowhere.

Re: Uk Media
I usually look at the headlines on BBC online. I haven't watched live tv for years,so I can pick what suits my bias.
I don't buy a newspaper either, though Mrs.Skub likes the DM for the puzzles,so I have the odd sarcastic snigger at that content.
In general,it all washes over me,I'm easily bored with the 24/7 barrage of endlessly circular and dissected opinion posing as news,so I just do my thang and mostly dgaf.

Re: Uk Media
Just read my earlier post, must remember not to post after a disastrous 12Hr night shift.....
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

Re: Uk Media
The number of times I've heard "the Beeb News is so right wing" and shortly later "the Beeb News is so left wing". My main problem with the Beeb News is that it is increasingly dumbed down 'chat' and rather tabloidy. Breakfast 'News' is obviously the worst - with Piers Morgan on ITV being the leader of the pack for bollocks and the Beeb like the slightly kinder chintzy version, such that it's a bit of a surprise when Dan Walker or Naga do a proper interview with a serious face.Wreckless Rat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 8:17 am It’s utterly shit isn’t it.
Not a fan of the BBC news, but thought I’d give it a try this morning. Ffs how does anyone watch this with any interest in unbiased reporting.
ITV - well.... ffs
Is there any morning news worth watching? What do you watch for news in the morning. I generally don’t bother but... surely there is something that reports UK issues/news without blatant bias, or perhaps there isn’t,
During Trump I was watching CNN a lot because their hatred of him was comical. I also watch EuroNews just because it makes a change - I'm sure there's bias but there's a damn sight less bollocksy sofa chat.
