I was surprised when he got the test rider gig as Jorge always sets his bike up “long” for stability yet the Honda and Yamaha are both developed for being able to turn well albeit in different ways. Cal has the same bike history with HRC, Ducati and Yamaha over the years but a riding style more alike his peers unlike Lorenzo
Time will tell as Pedrosa seems to have made a huge difference to the progress of KTM sticking a current fast rider onto development
I was doubtful about how relevant any feedback from Pedrosa would be,given his size and weight, but by all accounts he's been a great asset in the KTM development.
Sylvain Guintoli is another great example of a test rider being a class act.
There should be a vets race series, top 4 circuits, a 5 lapper on super sticky tyres on a current or last couple of years spec GP bike. I bet each factory would want to play, even to sell all the XXL t shirts to aging fans!

Bwana and Hawker ?
Bwana, hawker and Wossname. We have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to dog botherers.
Difficult to argue with - unless we think it may have cost him a Repsol Honda ride. But I think that's more down to the fact that Pedrosa was an alien and Spanish and the opportunity to do the same with Lorenzo simply looked too good to them.
What also probably helped Cal over the years is unlike a lot of the other riders, who outwardly appear to distance themselves from management, he also seemed to be close to Carmelo the big boss and seemed to have his ear.
