Retro kit

Post by derek badger »

Yea, yea. Hipster wanker. Anyway, I just ordered a jacket and fancy a retro Moto-X style lid to go with it for when I eventually get to hoon about on the KX500. My Enduro lid is probably 18 years old and the googles need new lenses anyway so it's more than just a fashion purchase, although it needs to look fucking awesome...

Looking at either a Bell Moto 3 or similar style for use with goggles. Anyone bought/seen anything similar that I should investigate? I've got a Shoei shaped head btw.

I'm liking that premier.
I'm assuming the lower half will be turned up jeans and 8 hole cherry red DMs?

Kevlar jeans, not sure on footwear yet. Either my black Oxtar Moto-X boots or these that I got given...

Found an eBay seller with one medium matt black Emmet left in stock and it was reduced to £99, so I bought it. Just need to find some new OTG goggles now.

👍

Always good to get the seal of approval from someone who wears the bumming hat.
DMD goggles are good.
Do you wear glasses, I'm looking at the Scott or Leaat 4.5 OTG models at the minute.

You looked a twat in the 80s then, 80s look would be Kawasaki paddock jacket, jeans, trainers and a Nolan N38, replace the paddock jacket with a leather jacket if you're a greebo.

IIRC you posted a picture from that era. And you looked like Millie Tant. :banana-dance:

In the 80s those jackets, jeans and white Reebok ankle boot trainers were de rigueur for riding your RD250/400, X7 etc and to be extra cool you tipped your handlebars forward! :D

They are Trickers, they did a limited run of motorcycle ones sold by Motolegends. They were given to me by a kind TRC forum member who didn't get on with them. At £390 a pair it was VERY generous of him.

Are you happy with it? It looks a bit different than the advert, no?
The aperture looks a lot bigger IRL

It fits very well for a helmet only costing a ton. IRL it looks the same, I think the selfie and the stock photo are just taken at very different angles. Also with no goggles it does look bigger, but this is good as I need big goggles to go over my speactacles.

A sliver mirror lens is a very 80s look. For completeness add some black insulating tape to look like you couldn't apply it quite properly.
