Noggin wrote: Fri Jan 22, 2021 4:38 pm Well this is not a great read - if you live in a ski resort. We already think it's unlikely that we'll open at all but all of us have been hoping for an Easter opening - since the government kyboshed February yesterday (understandably - I'm not complaining but we are desperately hoping that numbers and hospital levels will reduce enough for us to get a tiny bit of season)
With about 1.2% of the French currently having been vaccinated and only about 40% of the French population saying they would get vaccinated when a vaccine is offered to them, I honestly see no chance at all of skiing in France before next winter. :(

We are due to go to Bénodet in Brittany for a couple of weeks June/July and we don't think that will be happening either. :(
Yup. Most of us in the region pretty much know we aren't going to open before next season. But it's just annoying to read stuff like the report I posted - doesn't help at all

And the last report I saw on a French page was that they are ramping up the vaccinations and should match Germany soon. Of course there is no way I will be able to find that report!!!

It seems like Covid is going to be with us for a very long time.

Could it be Mother Earth, reaching out to clutch the toxic elderly to her harsh bosom? Because of the damage they wreaked?

The revenge of Gaia.

It seems I am, I've been within 2m of several people today and I kept my mask on at all times. Including when doing water rescue training in the sea. :angelic-green:

Britons are only allowed to go abroad for a small number of "legally permitted reasons" during lockdown ...
And
To put that [social distancing] in context, if you had one aircraft of let's say 300 people, you'd need a queue about 1km* long to socially distance just one aircraft, which is why last summer we mandated face coverings in the airport.
If people are jammed closely together the effectiveness of masks will be much reduced.

Last night was the first of the new tier 4.
Local news shows that the police and army gave out 200 fines in Arrecife for breaking the rules in 1 night.

Facebook has lit up apparently and all agree that this is good.
