The place is horrible and does not fit in at all, how planning permission was granted is beyond me.
He’s a nice bloke, but is an estate agent!
It was interesting how the presenter guy kept trying to link the new house with the original really old one!!! Interesting concept that probably should have stayed that way!! But hopefully they like it!! I did prefer the smaller house they built!! LOL
There’s several of the old Dutch barn style houses along there, it’s known as the land settlement.
Just behind are half a dozen very large plant nurseries with acres and acres of glass houses producing millions of plants each year.
From the house the largest green house in Europe can be seen - 28 acres of it all growing cannabis for CBD oil.

There was a Dutch barn house on their land wasn't there? Or very close

Did wonder about the plants in the green houses - I haven't ever seen a cannabis plant (probably the only person growing up living between the Glastonbury pop festival site and Glastonbury itself that hasn't!! LOL)

Theres a few Land Settlement houses near Carlisle, a few of those have Gambrel style roof structures which I assume also gets called Dutch Barn?

Anyway, from what I've heard theres slightly different rules for planning permission on land settlements and they're in a good sized plot of land.
They often kind of get overlooked as a lot of people don't realise just how big they are.

currently watching the Aussie series that's running.

I just don't get it at all LOL. Watching this family spend £1.5mill (aus) on a terrace house.... sure it's nice enough... but it's still in the middle of a housing area and still a terraced house. Me, i'd be way more of a beach side house, 2 miles from the nearest property.

Did you ever see the one that involved the bloke on Singletrack? It's worth doing a search on there for the thread.

Grand Designs were following a bloke who had permission for a single story dwelling built into a hillside, but he built up another two stories without planning. Kevin McCloud mentioned complaints from a neighbour a couple of times whilst showing beautiful views of open countryside, giving the impression it was some busybody miles away having a moan. What they never showed in the entire episode was the poor fucker having a moan lived about 20 feet away from the new build and now had to contend with an unplanned house towering above his own. The bloke having a moan is the bloke on Singletrack. His photo's of the new house and Channel 4's were a bit different. The bloke applied for retrospective planning, Grand Designs turn up to film it and of course it's granted.

Dig out the Singletrack thread, Kev and Grand Designs come across as utter cunts, which of course, they are.

Most of them are, hideous artichoke concrete and glass showhomes.
Not la longterm house for a retired person to enjoy.
