Now that's a bit more special than a Pro-bolt kit.

Very nice but I'd have expected a bit more than 215 gee gees.

I wonder how durable a WSBK engine is?
I know your average trackday punter isn't going to stress it much, but it's got to have a finite life?

The engine life is probably rated in hours before a refresh is needed. Maybe at 215 it isn't in a super high state of tune.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:03 pm I wonder how durable a WSBK engine is?

I'd be embarrassed to take that to a track day,for me it would be like playing an EVH guitar at an open mike night.

215bhp at the wheel though....compared to a claimed 189bhp at the crank for a stock 2018 bike. So a sizeable uplift. Probably about 35-40bhp more than stock isn't it?
P.S. I hate it when people use the word "billet" as if that's some magical reason it's better

THat's truly beautiful- I don't like that era BLade, but I love that, gorgeous
P.S. I know you're probably going to say your Gixxer has 200 hp, but it really doesn't in the real world, on BSD's dyno at least anyway- when I was there getting my H2 flashed, they had just done one exactly like yours, it was supposedly it fit one and standard they are ~180 at the wheel, which is a fuck load, but it ain't 200
You're a dreamer then- standard this model blade would be 160s on most peoples dyno- 215 is a BIG increase

Mine gave 235, that's completely standard apart from the flash- if you fit Akra front pipes, which loses the cat, its an instant extra 15hp and 1k rpm, with no extra work.Skub wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:58 pmWhat does the flashed H2 punt out,Tricky?Tricky wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:31 pm THat's truly beautiful- I don't like that era BLade, but I love that, gorgeous

Fitting the H2R supercharger gears ups the boost and adds approx another 30hp, which is all a bit daft really TBH- a standard 2015/16 one (200-205 on BSD dyno) , or any current litre bike is mad enough, as you know, and she's a heavy old girl so it is a real handful
In the flash they disabled the PAIR/ emissions stuff, corrected the massively rich top end (which, along with never fully opening the butterflies is deliberate by Kawasaki I think to artificially restrict it ), and they re-map throttle openings which is key IMO
It made it just so much nicer and massively more civilized in the mid-range - turned it into a real pussycat if you wanted it to be , but even more completely batshit when you wind it open too

I plan to get my Zed flashed, maybe next year when it's got a few more miles, not for any more horses, just that smoother operation/fuelling and rideability.

Daft questions:
What is the translucent tube running between the clip ons?
What are all the coloured buttons for on the left hand clip on?

Guessing the coloured buttons are for different ECU modes, shift settings etc.

Re: Honda 2018 sp2 world superbike CBR1000RR SP
I'd never seen one of these before - superbikes are not something I look at much - so I was puzzling over how it works.
The colour of the tube mislead me. I was thinking it was something to do with adding/removing fluid, but then I was thinking "well that won't change the span". Turns out it's much simpler than that It just 'moves' the standard screw adjuster over to the other side, so you can twiddle it without letting go of the the throttle. The tube is more like a brake cable, it's just a fancier version of the standard span adjustment nearly every bike has.
Every day is a school day.
As I understand it though, it's more about fade than wear. Disc brakes are self adjusting, so the lever pull distance should be the same regardless of how much the pads are worn - that's why you need the little reservoir of fluid, it takes up the 'slack' in the system as the pads wear by adding more fluid. But as they heat up you'll need more pull force for the same braking effect, which is what you'd want to adjust out.
Net result for the rider is the same really though.
EDIT: Having pondered a little more over my afternoon coffee, I suppose you might also need to adjust the span to account for thermal expansion of the callipers. Aluminium grows quite a lot when it's hot, so the pads would move away from the disc (which also grows though...) as they get hot. You'd also need slightly more fluid in the system to account for the slightly bigger internal volume of a hot calliper. But then most of that should adjust itself out automatically. Hmm...
Gotta be honest, it's not gonna impact my riding any time soon.
