Just remembered, my sister had the last one of these registered in the UK, the only "A" reg Vespa 100

Re: I want a scooter, am I sick?
My cousins (two sisters) both ride scooters and are into the Northern Soul scene, they regularly post (before c19) weekends away on the scooters to all night events. It looks like a good scene and a lot of fun.
I'm not sure I fancy the haircut, but I think wizzing around the lanes on a scooter would be fun.

My sister is into Northern Soul, I think she's bought another Vespa, I know she was going to Northern Soul nights in Wigan (she now lives near Preston) before CovidPotter wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 2:44 am My cousins (two sisters) both ride scooters and are into the Northern Soul scene, they regularly post (before c19) weekends away on the scooters to all night events. Re: I want a scooter, am I sick?
I've only ridden a few at my mates old bike shop when popping out for errands but I like em, they are good fun and convenient . If I could justify one in the garage for the odd run to the shops/commute I would.
In fact a lot depends on what happens post Covid, by the end of this I'll have been WFH full time for probably a year to 18 months so I'll be pushing for maybe 1 possibly 2 days a week in the office max. If that was the case I'd consider a scoot and only have 1 car in the family.

Re: I want a scooter, am I sick?
Scooters I've ridden
1983 Vespa 100 - nice handling, weird gear change, very slow
1985 Vespa PX125 - not very nice handling, weird gear change, slow
Lambretta 150 of unknown year - went about 200yds and it broke down
I'd much rather have a small motorcycle or a Honda stepthrough

No, I was being deliberately facetious, I know it's an area of Wigan where a coal pier used to be.Yorick wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 9:58 amWoooooooosh.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 9:49 am Wigan Pier was demolished 90 years ago, you two are old.

I've never been fishing anywhere in Wigan.
I have been fishing in Morecambe and coincidentally there used to be some ace scooter rallies in Morecambe, I didn't have a scooter but I did used to go sometimes for the ska music.

Re: I want a scooter, am I sick?
At one of them I watched the original Commitments do a full free open air show, must have the late 90's. There were all sorts of bands on from mid-morning until the early hours. I had a proper porno 'tache and genuine old clothes from the 60's/70's that were my grandads
Drunk as a monkey and dancing from lunchtime until I collapsed some time after midnight.
I can't remember what the actual event was, but I used to go to the punk weekends and the mod weekends, so it was unlikely to be one of the punk weekends.
I never saw any bother at any of them though, it was all just good fun.
