New bike day... Orange, of course, well... it had to be...

Post by weeksy »

As you're aware the starting issue has been irritating me and i tried a couple of weeks back to strike a deal on a 790, but the deal wasn't right so i didn't do it.

But a chat and WhatsApp yesterday means one of the 2019 clearout models before the 20s arrive is coming to live here instead of the 690

I'm not even going to justify it, because you don't believe me and i don't care anyway

So here it is... Well, it will be... This was Couchies one once upon a time, but my new one looks just like it.

Got to wait for the dealer to be allowed to trade again as they're closed, but once they're open, it's on it's way.

Your good health to enjoy man.

That looks like it may be prone to the odd wheelie! 8-)

The boy needs his bumps feeling (not by me!) IMO, but it is undoubtedly a most excellent choice

Quite spooky too in a way, the day I sell my 790 ( well, more accurately, the day it actually leaves my possession), Mr. W buys another :o

Part of it was down to you indirectly as I was looking in Flickr at pics for something and it got me thinking about our Wales trip and how good the bike was and then I had a message with OCD and pretty much made the decision last night. It was then just a question of sorting the right deal and bike.

I like your madness and get it done attitude. I'm dithering over a bike I've seen and umming and arrging and all that. But then I do need to wait until I've move and have access to the garage. More orange fun!!

Oh I've been over this in my head for a few weeks now, should I shouldn't I, but a few chats lately kinda gave me a push.

So don't think I just got up this morning, made a decision and bought it by 11am.

 Good trip that , we had some fun, and the 790s definitely didn't disgrace themselves, they go very well for something with "only" 90 odd HP

And following on from our earlier chat, I guess we could also add the Ventura rack to that " potentially going spare" bits list, TBC ;)

Here is mine in full tourer mode just before setting off

As the bikes have matured have they stopped the little oil/coolant leaks?

I noticed 2 brand new early 790's at the KTM centre weren't liquid tight. Any other issues? Anyone done big miles on one?

That's something i've not really looked into. But they're under full warranty and the techs at Premier have resolved the issues without problems, so if it happens it happens... They'll fix it quickly.

Is it wrong that my first thought on seeing the Wings can was that it would probably be the better option with a top box

The Wings for me is a little short and stubby. Not convinced i'm a massive fan of it.

This is ticking more boxes for me. £280 is a decent price.

The Akra i like but we're talking more £500 for one of them.

Don't think I'd bother with a can if I could get a top box fitted without melting it. Saw a vid the other night, the OE can sounded pretty good anyway.
