Drinks are on me, card behind the virtual bar.
A few of you might know that for the past few weeks I've been in a consultation period at work regarding the decision to close the office I've been in for 11 years which means the potential redundancy of about 40 staff. It's been on the cards for a while due to changes in the industry we work in but the Covid-19 situation has forced their hand.
I won't go into details, but the bulk of our business is international casinos and sports betting and these sectors are flat on their arse at the minute. The bottom line is the building is closing and we're all at risk of redundancy because either a) your role is no longer required or b) the location in your contract will not exist anymore.
I've been an elected representative for my guys (plus myself) and have had just finished the group and 1-2-1 consultations. One of my guys is taking voluntary redundancy after 13 years here, he's over 60 and it works well for him. The other chap has moved to another team having been earmarked as key to the business and I've been moved into the corporate IT team with my exact role to be defined, but I had a dotted reporting line to my new manager currently. The two of us left in my current team have worked a deal where we WFH 3 or 4 days a week and then we'll have to commute up to West London for the others. It's been a tough month, but this is a huge light at the end of the tunnel. The only fly in the ointment are having to agree to a temp pay cut (15%) which the rest of the staff across the globe at a certain level and above have also been asked to do until the lockdown is lifted and sports start again. I've also been given the project to decommission and/or relocate all the IT Infrastructure and services, a task likely to take 6 months to complete.
So, no pushing and shoving but the bar is open later and drinks are on me. I'll be in my new office drinking Peroni from 5:00pm if you want to join me.

Good to hear that at least your job is still safe, and sorry to hear about the drop in salary.

Glad to hear you’re in a more secure position. Yes the salary cut is a downside but salaries always recover over time. Let’s face it the upside is there’s not much be spending money on at the minute anyway!
Better to have a job with 85% coming in than no job and 0 income. It’ll all work out in the long run.
Thought I was probably a bit late on the cheers but a cup of tea for me please! Last of the big drinkers......

WELL DONE as I found out getting what you want out of a re-organisation like that is not always easy or successful so getting it done is a result indeed, largeJamesons ta.`````
