Bike Insurance Daytime Only MOT
Just rang bikesure/adrian flux to get insurance on my KTM250 SM
They have told me that they can only offer TPO insurance because the bike has a daytime only MOT!!
Can anyone recommend a broker/ company that can cover me at least TPFT preferably Fully comp ?
TIA

Re: Bike Insurance Daytime Only MOT
Can't remember who I used to insure my bikes with but never said 'daytime MOT', just declared mods as 'lights removed', 'aftermarket bodywork' etc and made little difference to cost.

Re: Bike Insurance Daytime Only MOT
It's getting more difficult to get bike insurance. I got silly quotes IF I got a quote at all for London. I got told by at least two companies that I needed a brick built garage... on a Victorian terrace street? Where exactly? I've ended up with TPO for the first time ever.

I expect their reasoning is they don’t know exactly what they’re insuring.Jody wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 11:33 am Just rang bikesure/adrian flux to get insurance on my KTM250 SM

Q-plate, daytime MoT and TPO insurance - that's the real man's holy trinity.

Re: Bike Insurance Daytime Only MOT
How hard would it be to put lights on it?
My KX got though an MOT with no working charging circuit, just a battery that ran down in pretty short order and nowadays there's LED headlights that last a lot longer.

Re: Bike Insurance Daytime Only MOT
my husky 510 was on a daylight MOT, I was with Bennetts. and they were cheap. and I have got 10/15% on five gloves, (they have a 50% on now so that's irrelevant)

Re: Bike Insurance Daytime Only MOT
There’s no such thing as a “daytime only MOT”
You’ll have an MOT with a “no lights fitted” advisory.
Leave it at that.
Type in the reg on whichever moneysavingwebsiteyouchooseto and pick a quote.

Re: Bike Insurance Daytime Only MOT
Hi Jody did you ever manage to find an insurance company to insure you fully comp on your daylight mot?.
I’m having the same issue. Thanks

Re: Bike Insurance Daytime Only MOT
Try a classic bike specialist?
A LOT of vintage/classic bikes don't have lights fitted (eg ex-race bikes converted to road use, specials and such like). I'm pretty sure I've got FC cover on the JAPton (which has a brake light and f-all else). Just looked and it's with Footman James.

Re: Bike Insurance Daytime Only MOT
I have the classics with Footman James. They ask me loads more questions about the bike itself, I have the Bonnie on an "agreed value" policy.
I don't earn NCB on it, but you wouldn't be doing a classic policy anyway so I suspect that's moot. Deffo worth calling them though I'd say, they seem much more suited to odd stuff.

Adrian Flux will insure anything, but you'll have to jump through a few hoops.
Peter James are similar.
