They are continuing with a track only bike, non homologated for which you can buy a track package.

Who still makes IL4 600cc supersports? Bit of a dead class innit? Having said that, Honda are bringing back the CBR600RR I think?

I see lots of GSs, quite a few Yamaha nakeds and Tracers, NC700 (I think) but very few 600cc sports bikes nowadays. I haven't been to Ryka's or the Ace so I could be wrong.

Ah, I doubt I'll ever be able to buy one as a track package (unless a second hand one!! LOL)

Suzuki hardly have anything left. Ranges generally have been pared back, and that was well before the pandemic.

I've never liked the R6 & R1.
F.E. bought 2 new R1s for us instructors to use. None of us used them as we preferred our own bikes.
And we also had access to the R6s that the customers could hire, but they were horrible things

The original R6 was a proper game changer, I bought one brand new (the only new bike I've ever bought).

I rode it back to back with the GSXR600 before laying down the reddies. The R6 was 50% better in every way. I took it to a RWYB at a local airstrip pissed off lots of bigger bikes.

I replaced it when it was totally fucked (at 3yo and 27k) with a Fireblade, the R6 was quicker P2P on the road, I guarantee it. I warped the discs on the Blade trying to use the same braking points I used on the R6 at Cadwell, not because the Blade was going faster, but because the brakes weren't a patch on the Bluespots.

Loved that bike.

Then everyone else caught up and the K1 GSXR was as quick and the CBR-RR handled better, but all Yamaha did was change the fairing for 5 years.

The R1 was about 10 years ago. The R6s were new every year or so.

I remember one year when Fat Kev brought 4 brand new R6s to Donington for us to run in. Well, obviously we all pottered past the pits, but the rest of the lap was flat out Was a balls out race for us instructors

Before I bought my K12, I nearly bought a GSXR1000 out of England, but I rocked up to a local dealer because a wee voice in my head told me I best have a wee sit to see if I could still fit in one.

I nearly had to be craned off it, just no way my body could take a pure sports bike now.
