As much as I would love starmer to be something new and fresh for the Labour Party, only a days ago he was saying schools must stay open for the kids.

Also,he would have been briefed on the PMs notice, the opposition generally is, and magically - a few hours before it goes out, he calls for schools to shut. Someone cynical might think he was using his briefing to do a bit of politicking

With the day before we were told they were to stay open and end of year exams would be happening. That’s a big I’ll-turn given the science wasn’t changing overnight.

Opposition are oppositional but I thought SKS was really supportive of Bojo on R4 last night.

Anyway, any attempt at criticising the decision making of this government will be seen as screaming mad labour support rather than what it is: frustration about their incompetence.

Did you miss Boris's announcement at the weekend? He said the rules were about to get tougher, I don't know if he said lockdown directly but the BBC certainly said that was likely.

Perhaps it's a colloquial thing, "hiding behind the settee" is when someone is being hypocritical, using an excuse to hide that isn't real, like moaning about the government but breaking the rules themselves and hiding behind the settee to avoid the consequences.

So in long hand I should have written - How long are you going to keep breaking the rules for and putting yourself in danger and then blaming other people. We stuck to the rules from day one and now we're fairly close to being normal.

With your local context of how rules are decided and enforced?

If you get the new variant over there then you may find even harsher rules are required.

Yep, and despite what a fairly non-representative poll here says, so are most people in my experience. Of course nobody wants the restrictions, of course people are fed up with it, and of course people sometimes have the need to express dissatisfaction with the situation, but for you to high handedly dismiss the population of the UK as "whiners and moaners" whilst spouting more self-aggrandising bollocks will always provoke the reaction you want

I do hope so, every time I log in here this thread is back to the top with more bickering. The only other improvement would be a few of the members who drag almost every thread down to ming-mong-ping-pong disappearing for a week or so too. New forum, same old posters poking each other for a rise. I honestly don't know why Weeksy bothers with having a General Mayhem forum sometimes.
