GIXXER FIX: A GSX-R1100 WITH DUCATI SUPERBIKE SUSPENSION

I've added this because for once, the designer has gone down the road of "what makes a bike better as a bike" and of course, that's better bouncy bits.
On that alone, i'll give it a thread

Is it a good GSX-R1100 or a rubbish Ducati now?

You're thinking of KFB.
I want a 1999 R1

Yeah that's actually less than I expected! I saw one at £10k not long ago.

Absolutely, they're still an amazing machine IMO. Finding one with the right undertray, right wheels etc is pretty tough.
That one is close, i don't think the can is the correct year and he shouldn't have drilled the fairing for the crash protection, but other than that, it's pretty close. It even has the correct colour wheels. Although i am questioning myself now as to whether that's actually a 2000 fairing not a 99.

I misspoke anyway. What I really want is a 2002 Fireblade.

I quite like that, its kept the sort of pitbull solid look of the Slingshots and although I generally don't like "Streetfighters" cos they usually look like they lost the fight that looks neat. Oil colled GSXRs often looked a lot better than the watercooled bike versions when they're stripped down.
Bits I'm not a fan of will come as no surprise, no airbox, Ive disliked podfilters since I was 16 and mates had them on their AR 50s, and that rear subframe/tail units a bit on the midget size.
Mebbe 5-6 out of 10?

It looks ok, I do think the Ducati swingarm looks a bit ott, a slimmer one off a viffer or something would look better.

Your dream could very easily be a realityMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 9:25 am I misspoke anyway. What I really want is a 2002 Fireblade.
My brother Big Kev (@2xtwins )on here ) has the beauty below, that's been sitting idle in his garage for yonks, he starts it up now and again, rubs a cloth over it and keeps saying he is going to sell it as he has other bikes too (that he also doesn't ride much ) but he never seems to get around to it, so if you're serious, ping him a PM- I reckon it would also make a decent Portimao bike for one or two of the Portimao posse ( @Bigyin @IanB @crust etc etc ) that are talking about getting a different bike for the trip we're doing in May.
Its been collected and serviced once or twice over the last year or two I think, but that's the most action it's seen in that time, I've ridden it and (gash levers and tail tidy aside ), it's fairly decent
This is it

Re: GIXXER FIX: A GSX-R1100 WITH DUCATI SUPERBIKE SUSPENSION
My Dad had a white/blue one just like that which he bought brand new. He rode it every day for 2 years, all the fastners etc. still looked new when he sold it
T'was the first properly big bike I rode, he let me have a go on it shortly after my 33bhp restriction ended.
