No word of a lie, I was working in the plant room of a hotel in the lakes recently and the plumber who was working on the boiler and manifolded system was going on about the vaccine having tracking chips in it.

I said I wasn't confident in his ability to safely work on the heating system.
Fucking plum.
Bloke came to fix our washing machine last week and he was spouting similar stuff. It’s scary.

@Docca i guess I’m ever so slightly cynical, having been left a year in excruciating pain because all other services have ground to a halt. I gave up with getting fixed in the nhs prior to COVID and had it booked private but that was cancelled as the nhs took over all private hospitals...

What does this mean, well I’m now on morphine and have it rebooked privately for feb 2nd assuming it doesn’t get cancelled again, then I’ll just have the likely morphine addiction to deal with.

Yeah yeah a load of you will go boohoo you’re still alive...

Here the curfew for New Years Eve means that to stop big groups assembling, everyone has to be off the street and at their own home by midnight. The police are drafting in 600 extra police to ensure that the curfew is kept to.

Sadly loads of social media groups are arranging to meet during the day to celebrate the New Year. Words fail me-the authorities are doing what they can to halt the spread, but the stupid want to ignore them and risk the lives of many.

Vaccines in this area are coming in from Belgium, but logistical delays mean the first big batch of 250,000 doses will not be delivered until Friday. At the earliest.

Our lockdown starts at 9 pm this evening until 5 am Monday morning. Like yours, it's to prevent groups assembling to celebrate the new year but there'll be no extra police/jandarma and I've not heard of any planned get togethers. People here are pretty law abiding. There's no Covid in the village at the moment (although there's a couple of people isolating having been in contact apparently) and they'd like to keep it that way. It'll be different in the big cities I think.

I was talking to an English woman the other day who swore blind that 'the vaccine' will change your DNA. She too was serious and didn't much like it when I suggested that she clearly knows very little about RNA, DNA and vaccines. I asked her if she'd tell her children to not allow their kids to have the MMR vaccine as we all know from t'internet that it causes autism and the science that says it doesn't is fake news.

She made me a cup of tea though.

I miss Mr Rooty Tooty...I seem to remember that he successfully isolated Broccoli DNA in human blood, or something equally ridiculous, to prove there's all sorts of crazy crap floating around your body.

The idea that a vaccine could change your DNA isn't totally mad is it? Lots of things can change your DNA, that's one of the big ways we get cancer.

Probably best not to light the "vaccines cause cancer" fire though :D

I'm seriously considering breaking curfew tonight - but on my own and not until 23:00. I want to walk up a bit of the mountain and toast out the year. Yesterday was the first anniversary of my friend's daughter dying, and along with a few shit years and losing other friends last year, I really want to be sat on the mountain at midnight.

Not sure it's worth the fine, but equally not sure anyone will be watching the snow front at that time of night!! Think most people will be getting together before 20:00 and staying wherever they are after that!!

Some of the expats up here are getting together in the snow this afternoon but I'm not really feeling the love right now so will probably snooze and then go for a walk for midnight. Maybe!!
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!! :bblonde:

Here we go ... again.

Nightingale hospitals across England are being "readied" for use if needed as COVID-19 patient numbers rise.

The NHS in London has been asked to make sure the Excel centre site is "reactivated and ready to admit patients" as hospitals in the capital struggle.

Other Nightingale hospital sites across England include Manchester, Bristol, Sunderland, Harrogate, Exeter and Birmingham.

Only in as much as it wouldn't have been needed if people had taken notice and obeyed the guidance they were being given.
I'd wager that the BBC morning bulletins will have footage of crowds celebrating in the streets.

Well i'm kinda making the assumption here that they wouldn't 'ready' them unless that have a staffing plan.

TBH mate, i'd be outside in the streets with machine guns tonight, anyone outside, without a mask, *bang* just shoot them, then lob the fucking lot in a big hole in the ground next week. The stupidity of people is somewhat bloody astounding.

It'll be the same people crowing it's all the governments fault when cases are really through the roof.

Bar shopping, and one work trip to a hospital, a few hospital appointments etc I have hardly been anywhere for a year. Certainly not been in a crowd.

Oh I done one metal detecting dig, a group of about 30-40 people, but we were on 2 fields of about 90-100 acres each, so distancing was inherent.

Go on, it won't kill you. I'm full on Tory scum and it hasn't harmed me. :)
In a rushed acceptance of these shortcomings, the Nightingales were thrown up. But what was undoubtedly an impressive feat of engineering and teamwork failed to take into account the number of trained staff that would be required to make them work. Ventilatory support and critical care is a highly specialised area of medical care and cannot be delivered by volunteers.

Diluting staff within our already overstretched hospitals to get the Nightingales running appears a fantasy. As hospitals deal with their own staffing crises every day, as staff self-isolate or are themselves off with Covid, their existence is little more than a totemic placebo.
