Yes, unless you actually like leaks, you need either a big breather, or a moderately big breather with a reed valve in it.
Even then, it may always emit a bit of “oil mist.”

Someone did: the inspiration for this bike was a bike my Dad saw in the 50s, a JAP speedway engine in a Triumph frame that was winning everything, apparently.
