I have a friend with a Litelock, which apparently, you can lock without the key. He travelled away from home and did just that, locked it and didn't have the key. He called a locksmith who, with the right tools, took less than a minute to free his bike.

Locks and chains buy time, and that's all. The better the product the more time it's going to take to break it and I think buying Litelok is going to get you a few more seconds.

I use two disc locks, ABUS Granit Power and an Oxford Alpha. I cannot say if they work as I've not had an attempted theft. I also have a Monimoto 9 tracker which will alert me as soon as the bike is stood up.

A good lock, like Litelok, is only part of the equation.
Ask yourself, how desirable to thieves is my bike? Where am I parking it? For how long? As well as how securely locked is it.

An attractive enough bike left in a dodgy enough area for long enough WILL be stolen, no matter how securely locked.

Professional thieves will have your bike regardless of what you do. I doubt they would want an 06 Fazer but i want dont want the little balaclava bastards nicking my bike while visiting the city. They only nick them to rag round the fields till the fuel runs out. You get it back trashed of lucky or burnt out if unlucky.

I'm not so sure. My 08 Caponord daily - not exactly desirable, scuffed and scarred - was stolen from the West End despite having an Abus u-lock on it, the thieves cut the wheel spokes.

I ordered one of these last night. Now if someone asks if its any good how would you gauge that? Its not like i am taking an angle grinder to a 270 quid lock. So if i still have my bike in a years time was it a success or was i just lucky. Wee will see.

I bought one a few weeks ago only criticism are it could be a smidge bigger to get over sports bike wheels and the rubber coating makes it fiddly to thread through a hot front disc. Its also heavy 2kg but that's expected.

Is that the X3 Moto? Still not got mine but was thinking alloy spoke then round fork leg or swingarm and rear spoke.

Yes X3 moto. Just seems a bit small on the vfr or a bit fat to fit through the disc. I need to experiment more but haven't had time last few weeks.

I have an X1 as an additional bit of security. It is a bit tight to get through the disc, it's well marked already. I have that, a beefy Oxford disc lock and my pragmasis 19mm chain and lock.
