I'm writing an app that track's bike maintenance on your phone or on the web. I wanted to do it for myself as I couldn't find anything I thought was any good but I'm so pleased with it I want to release it on the app market places.
Do you mind if I post about it on the forum as will be looking for some testers for the multi-bike paid version and some feedback on the single bike free version. If I wasn't charging for it I wouldn't feel like I need to ask but as I'm effectively promoting it to a certain extent would it be ok if I post about it? I'm only planning on one thread, happy to use whichever bit of the forum you want me to but would love to put an initial chat in motorbike chat if that would be ok.
Please let me know what you think and many thanks

Sounds cool to me.
You're a paid up member and it sounds interesting and useful. I say 'crack on'.
TBH it probably only matters what Weeksy says but I'd be a tad surprised if he said 'Niet, nein, nope and thrice negatory'.

Just checking as the rules say that I should seek permission rather than ask forgiveness... paraphrasing
Thank you very much.

If you service your bike on schedule does it show you pictures of naked ladies?
If not, it should.

Only if you do your own servicing. If you use the dealer it shows you a snapshot of your bank account.

Sounds interesting, is the data going to be held on the phone, or stored elsewhere so pdfs could be generated ( as an example of the sort of thing people might be interested in)

All the data will be held in a database in the cloud. You'll log in with your email address so you'll be able to access the same data from your phone or a browser. Exporting service history data will be implemented soon. If I'm honest I can't remember whether I decided that that feature would be in the paid version or not. The free version will have all the essential functionality for a single bike though.

A few odd thoughts:
Some might like a 'costs' component to give eg annual running costs?
Reminders eg 'MoT due in 1 month' and keep track of Taxed/SORN'd status. (Thinking links to diary or text).

When you log a service you can enter a cost associated with that including any bits you fit. There’s reminders built in for mot and you can optionally set them for tax and insurance.

Can you take a picture of the 3rd party invoice for the oils and filters and link it to the service?

Even if it's not automatically included in the calcs, just associating an image with a cost event would be really useful.

None of that’s not a problem. The only thing I haven’t thought about yet is storage for the image of it’s not kept on the phone.

I'm afraid I'm putting that in the subscription version... got to differentiate them somehow and pay for the storage costs.
Coming soon...
