Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Another 121km off the Festive 500. Just 84 left for tomorrow.
My knees as quite sore, never done some much exercise in such a short space of time. Looking forward to never cycling again

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
65km on Zwift today as I wanted to cross 7000km for the year. Less than previous years but that's ok as this year there's been a lot of rides with low mile days due to playing on jumps etc all day and in woods with my lad.
The fun factor overall has been higher than previous years, even if the miles have not.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
A cold 40km today. Nice to be out, I need a new base layer to keep me warm.
Looking a decathlon one 900 winter base layer @£35 or the Rapha pro team winter base layer @ £70
Do any of you lot have the decathlon one???

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
30 mile commute to work today, very gritty on the back lanes, and to top it off gotta puncture about a mile from the depot so carried it the rest of the way in.

Not that one no, but have plenty of Decathlon stuff as it's often well priced for what it is.formula400 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 6:04 pm A cold 40km today. Nice to be out, I need a new base layer to keep me warm.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Just waiting until it warms up here - it is bleeding freezing.
Once it does, I am off to attack the Downs for the first time in 5 weeks ....
It's going to hurt!
Re Decathalon stuff. I am a real convert to their shorts - the are tough, stretchy and cheap. And the size actually works - unlike Endura and Altura ( who some reason jump around 4 inches between xl and XXL.
Their gloves are good ...
Bought a waterproof breathable top from them. But it wasn't waterproof as it has no sealable vents under the arms and o the back - so a pointless purchase. Rain on the Downs doesn't always just come from the front.
But it is sensibly priced stuff - Rapha is for East London trendies and hardened road bikers

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
There is stuff is quality, I love it, looks great. Them and Attacus and DHB.
In the end I went for a DHB merino wool one. £40 so just a tad over the decathlon one and 1/2 the price of the Rapha one (no one can see the logo )
Plus I get next day delivery with wiggle so it will come faster than the decathlon one.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Downs were lovely and crispy at the start of the dog walk this morning but it was turning very tacky by the time we got home.

I went out 11.30 ish -here to Cissbury and across to Chanctonbury. Then back to here. First hour wa a great - cold and crispy. 2nd hour was rubbish - cold and covered in slop with completely frozen feet.MingtheMerciless wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 12:40 pm Downs were lovely and crispy at the start of the dog walk this morning but it was turning very tacky by the time we got home.

I was looking at their thermal jersey. Good colours and £95 or some are on sale for around £60. Be looking Albion stuff, looks decent as well.Mr Moofo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:54 pmI don’t like it cos I can’t fit into it ...

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Endura make some nice base layers and great thermal tops as do Howies for base layers. I use castelli for shorts as they are super comfy and unlike Endura don’t give me arse rot.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
I should say endura padded shorts. Bloody horrible things. MTB outer shorts I use old Troy Lee Moto’s as they are neigh on indestructible (got a pair that must be 13+ years old and only now are they getting tatty). I think their newer stuff is less well made.
