So as some of you will have seen, we were debating upgrading Mrs Weeksys bike to get some additional tech, things like a QS, maybe some TC etc.
The list was an 899 Panigale, MV F3 800, 2019 ZX6R and a 2015> gsxr-750. Even the cheapest of these options was £3000 over the £4200 we'll get for the zx6R
After chatting again last night we ended up with "Well, i'm a bit worried we'll buy something and i'll hate it"
So decided to basically shelve that idea and i jumped on-line to look for a Quickshifter. It's something that's been of interest and something that should be of benefit. I had thought about a rear shock, fork internals, but when Couch and Tricky have both ridden it at Fast Group speed, neither have ever commented on the handling apart from saying it handles brilliantly.
I ended up just about to press the button on a HM Quickshifter, but pinged my friendly mechanic and race team owner at MSG Racing.
"Nah mate, we don't use HM any more we now use https://shiftpower.co.uk/index.php?rout ... duct_id=27, fitted loads and they've been perfect"
So that's what's now been ordered as a present for Xmas for Mrs Weeksy and will be installed i guess early in Jan in preparation for Portimao and Silverstone this year.

MOT coming up in about 6 weeks. Will be interesting to see how many miles the ZX6R managed last year, i'm guessing ITRO 800 track miles, but maybe closer to 600. I'm hoping next year will bring closer to 1000 for it/her.
We also need to give some thought to the longer term plans with a few bits like valve clearances and suspension servicing. Neither have been done since we bought it back 3 years ago, but the bike is both silent, along with handling like a dream. TRicky was the last fast fella to ride it at Brands Indy late this year in Sept, he was most impressed with it, coming into the pits with a resounding "That's brilliant, it'd be amazing if it had a Quickshifter", which clearly i did listen to
But you could argue after 3 years and 20 trackdays, it ought to be time it gets a few quid thrown at it for fork and shock servicing at the very least. I don't think a new shock is on the cards for it, but certainly later in the year it'll get serviced. This all depends on the CV19 situation to an extent because if for example Portimao gets canned, that frees up over £2000 for trackdays and i'd likely throw the bits in for service then. But if Portimao goes ahead as planned, it'll need to wait until next winter.
But by next winter, she may be thinking of a new toy anyway LOL.

I still think your Zx6r looks great @weeksy , can't see what you'd buy that would be much different from what you already have.
I had one at the top of my list , well one of these or a Gsxr 750 to be honest. Even went to look at one at a dealers when they reopened after the first covid lockdown but soon realised at my age and size neither were going to be suitable, so I changed plans and ended up with the Mt09.... Whether that stays in my garage, only time will tell.
Always think servicing the suspension is a good thing no matter what, even if that's just fresh oil. It was always surprising what difference it made to an enduro bike.
Aslong as a bike still starts, sounds like it should and runs fine maybe I wouldn't be in any rush to reset the valve clearances but I'd certainly plan atleast a clearance check when the tank next came off.

I don't honestly care matey. From my perspective i just want a bike that starts and stops each and every time. We've debated exotica but the issue with exotica is when you turn up at Silverstone @ £250 for the day and you get 'click' from the starter or it gets 1 lap and stops dead. That's the main reason why we have the ZX6R... However as a bike enthusiast, it just doesn't excite me in an ownership context. But sometimes i'd love to go into the garage and think "wow, that's awesome" but it won't be with the ZX6R... i'd say that's more my fault than the bikes

There would be a piece of Italian exotica in my garage if I wanted the wow factor but the realisation that I can own two other bikes for the price that will cover more of my biking needs makes me happier

Weirdly....and this is based on no logic whatsoever...Kawasaki are near the bottom of the list of brands I can get enthusiastic about. Again, don't ask me why
In fairness I bet if you covered the names badges up on 600cc Yamahas, Hondas, Suzukis and Kwaks I wouldn't be able to tell the difference from the way they ride.

I don't think your valve clearances will need doing, I'm assuming they're shim under bucket, they'll probably won't need any attention until 60,000+ miles, the easy (lazy) way to tell is if it becomes hard to start when it's got they need adjustment, but checking then isn't a difficult job, but they can be a pain to get at.

Well that was an irritating start to the afternoon, i thought i'd put the ZX6-R back to standard in preparation for the handover on Saturday.
a couple of minutes in i grabbed the lights/plate hanger and the indicators were hanging off. The rubbers that hold it together have perished and are useless, so i've had to jump on the internet and buy a new pair of rear indicators.
I could have glued them and got away with it, but i wouldn't be happy if i bought a bike and someone did that to me, so i wasn't happy doing it to someone else, even a dealer. Hopefully they'll be shipped quickly and i'll get them on and the bike.
