Long story, she and I have a private joke whereby voice notes are left in a faux Eastern European accent, always starting, 'There is a bear in my [insert surreal object]', repeated a couple of times, as if learning English verbatim.

A colleague at her work is a keen amateur brewer, so she got him to print labels and provide two bottles of different beers from his collection, for which he would take no payment (how nice was that?).

Hence 'There is a bear in my beer' label.

I shall sample after 5pm.

All our minor issues on the house move have now been sorted by solicitors and god knows how many other people involved.

So we can now exchange and complete on our new property as soon as they tell us.

On the (sort of) father's day theme, I sent this to my SDad -

Image

I did have to ask him not to show my mother!!! (He still goes to her place to help her with stuff in the garden)

Also sent something a bit nicer - a keyring that said "thanks for being the Dad you didn't have to be" - always cool when your step family or married into family (my aunt) are awesome

Bought myself a black Honda Hornet t shirt and wore it for the first time today. I really like it and it makes me very happy.

Manged to break one of the lower mushrooms that hold my panniers onto the frame. Two small bolts and a washers is the perfect size. Jobs a good un. May just get it powdercoated like that.

Credit where credit is due: EDF Customer Service.

I was on a two year fix starting 1st August 2024. I switched to another supplier and EDF sent me my final bill which included the exit fees. They're not allowed to do that because Ofgem says so: "You can switch suppliers without incurring exit fees if you do so within the last 49 days of your contract."
I called EDF this morning expecting I'd have to argue my case but the nice Scottish lady agreed with me, said the exit fees shouldn't have been applied and she'll send a new bill. Result.

I bought the wife and I new phones and went to collect them from the apple shop. I traded in our old iPhones so took them with me as well. When I got there the guy said they didn't want them today and I had 14 days to bring them in. I said well i'm here now so you may as well take them now. He was insistent I didn't leave them today, saying there can be problems where downloading the back ups etc and its good to have the old phones to check settings, get into banking apps etc. Fair enough so home I went. Just as well as once I set up my new phone, I could not get back into the Tesla app to register the new phone on there. Good job I didnt trade the phones in or I'd have been stuck at Lakeside shopping centre, as i never thought to take the Tesla key card with me. So the nerdy yooof made me very happy with his sage advice!

I'm sort of friends with a few of the lucky lucky men.

One of them calls himself chicken lips and is funny as hell

He's just back from his home in Senegal and showed us pics of him helping on his brother's farm.

A few pics of him with lion cubs. Then a couple with tame adult lions.

Super cool.

A side to him that the tourists never see.

OK, so I rode my 2016 Duke down to the shop, so my first impressions were.....

Wait, no, what, no wait, THOSE are the handlebars!! WTF, I thought they were the cross brace, they are not going to suffice at all!!! I actually had to have little word with myself and remind me that Ducati sell lots of bikes, there's no way they sell one with handlebars that arnt up to the job!!.

Bike was all good really, it didn't work well with my sidi SM boots but that's understandable... Or is it, they work OK with the Duke!? Your feet are a little further forward on the monster, but there are also boots that are better suited.
I wasn't going to push too hard as it's not my bike, but it went where I pointed it, the brakes and suspension worked as expected and I was even able to confidentially ride it down the track home including the deep downhill gravel section.

For me, personally, with where I ride, it's too sportsbike. Little bit too unstable at really low speeds, little bit too "let's do 140kmh", and I don't know, but for me, at 140kmh, I felt like the brakes, suspension and those poxxy little handlebars... They are at their limit :?
