Honda say these don't need running in, as they are "bench run in", what eer that is. But, the bike is just approaching 3k miles now and is getting notably smoother and more responsive. I might end up liking it at this rate!

Just went past 3k miles on it. Nothing to report really, it just does what I want it to do, and pretty much perfectly too. I suppose, as all I need from a bike is something that commutes to work and back, I could have saved myself a few quid by getting a Vespa 300GTS or a SH300, but I always miss bikes when I only have. Scoot, so I think it was the right choice as it bridges that gap.

Was just curious really i thought it was pretty soon as that's likely to change the dynamic of owning the bike i'd guess ?

I probably wouldn't have a need for a bike if I was retired? So, I guess it could go two ways. I'd sell the NC750 as its not a fun toy to me, and maybe buy a scoot for buzzing around town on as MoFo says. Or, buy some ridiculous thing for the occasional ride out, something like a Bagger or Diavel.

Also, looking back, there are two bikes I sold, due to operations and recovery, that I never had time to get bored of, so maybe revisit them again, which were a MT09 and a CB1000 thing?

Thinking about it as I'm writing this, the only option that makes any sense to me is the scoot as I would actually use that, whereas I suspect the bigger bike options would end up as neglected, rusty garden ornaments as I no longer have any real interest in riding for riding sake!

maybe like with @Dodgy69 that will come when you have more time and freedom. Once you have nothing you HAVE to do, maybe a trip to the coast on a motorbike will be an excellent little treat.

It's amazing how much fun you can get from a small bike. 60 mph max on the flat is enough on the twisties and too much on the tight ones. Monkeys, Groms, Cubs, Scoots, all have a great fan base, plenty social going on.

Also in my experience, you don't get any nobheads, plenty of silly buggers, but no nobheads, there's a big difference.

Me too- and on that subect, you Sir, and that Skubster reprobate may jointly consider yourselves largely responsible for my selection of what was my most recent 2-wheeler purchase - 6 months or so back I became the err, proud-ish owner of a 14 YO but very lightly used (11k total miles) and well cared for SH300i

Isabella (my OH) was genuinely a little disgusted by my purchase, still disowns me when I'm out on it and calls it "the moped" but I love it.
I use it pretty much every day that it isn't pissing down for nipping to the gym and back or into town and I have to say , for what I've been using it for, I struggle to think of anything I'd prefer- I just jump on and go, get 120ish MPG, an easy 70-80MPH cruising (and 90+MPH if/when you want it )

Here is the little minx resting after a faster , greener, and more pleasurable commute than I suspect most of the other people on the road have had

As you say, they just make so much sense for whizzing around town, grabbing stuff from the shops, or popping down to the market. For those who think a scoot is beneath them, think of it as your pit bike! Or if you're old enough to have had a fizzy etc, then you'll definitely get the cheekiness of one!
