Wow, once again it's insane in the arms race with pretty much everyone now going full Avinox.
From Orange bikes, Mondraker, Canyon, Nukeproof, it just seems like manufacturers have decided that Avinox is the way forward and the only way to go. Most it seems are running the M2S which is the higher power 1500w, but some are going 1200w with the M2.
It really doesn't help me in the fact that i still want and will own an eeb. But i'd rather stay away from Avinox through personal preference, but it's lowering my list and options all the time.

Power aside the avinox delivery is superb and miles better than my Bosch, it takes measurements 42 times a revolution where the Bosch does it once. You can have zero overrun when you stop pedalling or adjust it to run on in increments. You can set max torque and power at loads of different levels, you can set how quick it responds too. It’s also lighter than the Bosch. If you don’t want the power you could set it to the same as any of the lower powered bikes in one mode. The way it rides is utterly superb and infinitely adjustable there’s just no way I can see why anyone would buy another brand.

The big reason for that for me is known reliability and support, both short and longer term. They’ve been out a couple of years and so far so good, I can only imagine with so many jumping on the bandwagon it’ll all work out, my Bosch has been great but at 4 years old needed new bearings which I decided not to do and put a new motor in. I didn’t mind as it’s done every mile in turbo

Not really. The Bosch have that fact that you can rebuild easily.

2 new MGU's launched at Eurobike this week... The Avinox MG and the Gobao X1P...
BOTH running fully CVT transmissions inside!!! Sounds like both will be able to be overridden and have user selectable artificial ratios if required too...
Yes, yes, yes... Predictably too much power and torque etc... But can be turned down of course...
Consider my interest piqued! Certainly I might end up moving my Crafty on sooner than later to make a space in the garage for a next gen MGU powered bike as and when they become available...

Agreed, no more wearing out an expensive cassette in a few hundred miles.

I still thibk the pedal system/cranks are a massive weak spot because of how they need to spin. But also need to be sealed from mud and water

Internal gearboxes on MTB's are many, many times stronger and more durable than any derailleur and cassette system... The Pinion MGU for instance, the only maintenance is an oil change once every 10k km (6200 miles)...
OK, when the bike is 10yrs old, had 5 different owners, a patchy service history etc. it might become Caveat Emptor for a prospective new owner (just like a 10yr old car or van I guess), but if like most of us, you're buying a new bike to last you anywhere from a year to 5 years before you're then likely to upgrade with another, gearboxes will all but eliminate maintenance and replacement drivetrain parts on eBikes!

Cos it came out late, it's heavy, very noisy, low on power and torque for the market etc... Despite all that I still very nearly bought one... In fact, if I didn't ride with people on more powerful bikes, I would have bought one, but the thought of artificially handicapping myself on purpose when I need to keep up on the climbs with people who simply won't turn their bikes down from full power doesn't bear thinking about!
Most people only care about the power and torque figures... Nothing else! Pinion is on 85Nm and 600W, which is where everyone else was prior to the Gen5 Bosch CX and the subsequent arms race ignited by Avinox...
FWIW I just had a quick spin on a mates Mondraker Zendit with the Avinox M2S motor just now, 130Nm and 1300W peak... Absolutely ludicrous! After 20m I couldn't wait to turn it down...
