If something won't do the distance of the trip I'd rather get it sorted before I leave, also he's an old mate so I always give him my business.Whysub wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 12:50 amAny reason for not having your tyres changed during your European trip?Bustaspoke wrote: Mon Jun 15, 2026 7:06 pm I took the SV650X to my mates tyre shop for a new pair of Road 6's.
[I got 6100 miles out of the factory fitted Dunlops. We thought that I could get another 2K out of the rear & more out of the front tyre, but if my next Euro trip happens I'll be hitting the 2K mark whilst I'm away so I got the tyres swapped over today.
I used to do the same, in that I changed tyres before going on a long trip, even though I would never refit the tyres I removed to get the 1000 to 1500 miles left on them.
There seems to be many more bike tyre shops and fitters in Europe than in the UK. I have had tyres changed in Ljubljana, Bratislava and Bordeaux whilst on trips, for less than the cost in the UK. So a win-win.
He did me a pair of Road 6's,90 degree valve stems & fitting, ride in ride out for £350.
I'll be back there with my Street Triple in a couple of months.
