'Small' was the Cooper Reading bike showroom at their old site.

Enough space for three bikes, a desk, and wall shelves!

Given how known BMWs are for crap paint I can't imagine it'll be an issue, and if it was they'll sort it I'd have thought to keep the sale.

Turns out I did the right thing by calling up today.

Because I’m still in possession of the bike they can put it through as a warranty claim from BMW. I just had to sign a job sheet.

If I had waited till they picked it up and took it to the showroom it was then their problem and they can’t put in a warranty claim for a bike they own.

So it’s getting picked up Wednesday night when they drop off the new one.

I hope they recognise your commitment to fair dealing. As you've, potentially, saved them money/hassle* I think a free topbox :D is the least they could chuck into the deal.

* I'm assuming they'd rattle-can it.

If it was them fixing it they might rattle can it but they don’t seem that kind of place. A warranty claim is new barrels at the very least.

Hopefully they’re going to forget about the 2 k miles that I underestimated the mileage at when they gave me the trade in price.

You'd have thought that after a steady stream of new engines/barrels they'd just pay a little extra for better paint in the first place...or no paint at all!

My R65 had 'corrosion resistant' paint on its wheels. Guess what ...

Well it got through the gate with about 10mm clearance each side

Phew, even the salesman that brought it down was sweating.

Just over 3k on the bike now.

I was away for the weekend and pulled the bike out the shed Friday morning and pressed the ignition…nothing. Not a peep. I phoned my salesman mate at the dealer and he brought down a starter pack and it fired up no problem.

I took a pack with me in case it happened again but 400 miles and it’s been fine. Hopefully just one of these things, I don’t know if it was the bike draining the battery or the lithium battery shutting down.

If I leave my (much older 2016) GS for over two weeks without riding or charging it's always flat as a fart.

I think it's the optional BMW alarm that kills mine.

ILast month I watched a YT upload by The Superbike Surgery on a BMW GS with a parasitic draw problem. It turned out that the owner had fitted a tracker & it was draining the battery.Has your GS got a tracker fitted?

Wife and i went down to Melrose today on the bike for lunch. Road down and home was full of bikes and we noticed the least likely rider to give a nod or a cheery wave was Adventure bike riders.
