Sadly I didn’t get to the centre that is more sporty (and the age range is younger!! From what I’ve seen so far, no hotties and I’m very much one of the youngest hereSunny wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 7:59 pm Those images are proper cool! Wish we got that kind of thing in the UK

Oh, and me hopping??? There’s nothing remotely casual looking about that!!
On the images, it’s a shame in the uk, they have the same images they just don’t share them!
The three I got of my shoulder were awesome (and I use them to explain to people why I don’t use crutches, or whatever else is being suggested!!). The rest were in the system but for some reason over there they don’t like to share info (I only got the surgical notes because I needed to show them to the surgeon out here!).
It’s pretty cool here as we get everything.
Sadly for some complete numpties, we end up with folders of info that we can/may have to take to appointments! But for me the physios/occ therapists do like to see my shoulder rehab notes!!
These are the three I managed to get photos of.

Re: Exploded knee anyone??
Bandage/dressing came off on Monday
Which means I should be doing pool therapy as well as physio and APA next week - even more
So, healing scar

And, for comparison, the photo on the left was 2022 at six weeks after the first knee op, and after the staples had been removed.
The one on the right is at three weeks and three days and stitches (melty jobbies that don't need extracting!)

Deffo not keen on staples, didn't like the look and definitely not the extraction, but the scar also healed very wide which was yucky!!
I do get a few comments about how fast it's healing this time, but to me it's just normal!! Guess I'm lucky on that count
Still got two weeks and five days before I see the surgeon to know if I can start putting weight on the foot - but the physios are working both legs hard (the left non weight bearing) and one of them is also letting me do some shoulder exercises too!
Still bloody boring but at least the outcome is positive for being here instead of home and stuck there and maybe getting two physio sessions a week

You should start an 'Only Fans' page, there's bound to be blokes who get off on womens scars - I'd imagine.
Little side hustle, actually with your luck you could be quids in.

Re: Exploded knee anyone??
I go to see the surgeon on Monday to find out if I can start weight bearing. The only downer at the mo is, looking at my notes from the last break, from weight bearing at 30% when I arrived at the rehab centre to leaving was two and a half months
Bloody hoping it isn't so long this time (think it's cos I can't use crutches that means it takes longer, I'd been expecting six weeks as usual recovery is three months
)
Anyway, at six weeks from the operation, the scar is almost sorted. Just two places near the bottom of the scar that are still a bit scabby. No one can explain why and it's annoying since the rest is all fixed
The skin is slightly sticking under the scar so the physio has started using a ventouse machine to try and make it unstick!! that's 'interesting'
Soon as the last to bits heal properly, she'll put more effort in all over the scar to make sure it is all good
updated gash shot for a laugh !!!

Getting there
Walking stick?
When I destroyed my knee I had a two piece plaster (above and below the knee) joined by a metal hinge either side to keep it aligned and give some support. Work for you?
Stick with it, you'll be skipping in no time.

Well, in theory I should have had something like that since day 1, but because of all the blisters from the original dressing, I couldn't wear it (which made me happy as whilst non weight bearing it's just another annoying thing to manage whilst transferring from chair to chair to bed to chair to loo etc etc!!)
I'm not sure if they'll ask me to start wearing it straight away or not. I can't remember if I had to at the last place for the weight bearing bit. I would guess not as I don't think the one I have offers enough support for weight bearing (not for anyone! not just cos I'm heavier than I should be/would like to be!). But it's in the wardrobe , along with a pair of crutches that I Really don't want to use. Although I did tell Letitia that if the pharmacie can get me some pink crutches, I'll try harder to use them!!!! (I saw a lady here a few weeks ago that was using pink ones and I have big envy!!!!)
On the stick thing - last time, once I was at about 75% weight bearing (I think), I was allowed to walk with just one stick. But again, the spazzy arm messes that up because, with a broken left knee, I should use the stick on the right side but I can't
I am pretty determined to be out asap if only to get back to full wages!! (Sick pay isn't bad, but it's not 100%
Just got to see what Mr Chirurgien says on Monday then negotiate with the physios. Sadly I won't see my usual ones until Weds, but given how grumpy the one I'll see Monday and Tuesday is, I might hold off on discussions until I see Letitia or Marianne. I think I have to wait for the surgeon to send the confirmation to the doctor here and then he'll pass it to the physios. So that probably won't happen till late Tuesday, maybe
One bonus - because next Friday is a bank holiday, they have to try and fit stuff in in four days on a week when a lot of physios are out training on Tuesday as well!!! So, it looked like I'd miss the second pool therapy on Thursday. But, having spoken to Marianne, I get pool therapy on Weds and it's one that she is running, so will probably start working very hard Weds as seeing Letitia just before pool therapy!! (And have spazzy sports early in the morning

Good to see you keen to get better, but don't overdo stuff. We really really REALLY don't want to hear that you have fallen and broken an arm.

But no, I am being very careful!! The other day in phsyio someone on my floor arrived but back in a wheelchair having been on cxutches and close to going home - he'd fallen in the shower
Soooo - very careful! And I have two very lovely but extremely scary physios (and the spazzy sports physio could be pretty forceful if needed I suspect!) - so I am very much behaving myself - apart from taking the compression bandage off a smidge early some days - it's either itchy, too tight, too loose or I'm just fed up of it! Didn't help that I realised I'd used the same bandage since I arrived
The main thing is I have been a bit shocked to remember that I was already weight bearing (a bit!) when I arrived at the last place but it still took 2.5 months
A couple of the physios (a temp one and one of the girls) have gently suggested I leave bikes until autumn at the absolute earliest

Re: Exploded knee anyone??
My brain seriously doesn't deal well with lack of information !! I asked the nurse who brought the meds at dinner last night what time the taxi would pick me up for the RDV with the surgeon, and what time the rdvs with the xray and the surgeon were for this morning. She said I'd be leaving at 8am but didn't know the times of the rdvs.
I know most people don't care but I need info to not be stressed, and more so because I've worked in transport for so long I just like the timings to make sure we get there at the right time - and since the doc here had told me the surgeon rdv was 9am and I had a text to tell me the xray was 9.15 I wanted to clarify - obviously the xray is supposed to be first!
No one came back to me so I asked the night nurse - bit of miscommunication because of language but she came back later and explained that the taxi would arrive at 8am, the xray is 9:15 and the surgeon 9:40 (the leaving time was a bit tight to get to the hospital 30 mins before the xray time as required, but I was out of energy by then!).
We had a good conversation about info because a LOT of people don't ask for any; they just get told the leaving time and are happy at that - that stresses the fck out of me, so I think she's put a not on the file to clarify that info is needed (and I'm seriously annoying!!!)
Driver turned up at 8.05 and processed to confirm that I was going to Chambery - nope, Albertville!! Off he went and came back saying the paperwork is wrong
but we're going to Albertville!! Paperwork wasn't wrong, he hadn't read it correctly
Anyway, xray sorted and below!!

Surgeon is very happy with the healing so I can start at 25% weight bearing later today
He did say that he can see a fracture in the xray that isn't completely healed but he also said that the outside of the fibia healing is well on the way and so he's happy to let me start weight bearing because the pins/screws and plates will support it now that most of it has started
Slightly disturbing in that I go from 25 - 50% pretty quickly as long as there's no pain at 25%; but then if it hurts too much we go back down!!! ut, I've done this before, it'll be fine
The dislocated-then-fixed LCL is doing ok as there is not too much 'play' in the sideways direction of my knee!
We won't know about the ACL till I'm properly weight bearing but if that is FUBAR then I can live without if I work on all the leg muscles (not a bad thing to do anyway!!)
I had arthritis in the joint from the previous break (probably) so he says the knee replacement issue we will address if/when it gets painful as there'll be more arthritis now
and there may be issues around the cartilege and meniscus but we'll know more at the next rdv because the xray will be fully weight bearing
For now the metalwork stays in and we'll talk about it in a year and a half. He thinks it should stay unless it's painful - I didn't ask about the extra risk due to my two sports (motos and skiing are high risk for twist fractures), but we can talk about that later!
The main reason I want to leave it is that there are SOOOOOOOO many pins (locked screws I think he called them) that the top of the bone would look like swiss cheese if they all come out at the same time - not sure that is good

I'm sure I'll think of other stuff we discussed later
One thing he did show me, I do have the scans but hadn't really understood them as they are moving ones, is the fact that the inside of the top of the bone had disintegrated

I had read about filler but thought it was temporary while he did everything else
Hey ho!
Anyway, he set the next rdv at 29 june so whilst the journey back was happy because I can start weight bearing, I was pretty sad that I had to stay here until end of June beginning of July

BUT - just talked to the doc here and he's said that the rdv is for a check up and nothing to do with leaving here! So we're aiming for six weeks, but that depends on how the knee handles my excess weight and how my shoulder handles the extra use whilst getting to full weight bearing, so might be eight
(but I will seriously work for 6
)
Now I have to find out if my friendly physio is available for early/mid june cos my favourite physio won't be back till July
But, despite my brain causing me so much stress before and not understanding the system caused me stress after, it's been a goo morning and some friends are coming to visit on their way to Calais !!!
So
