Still waiting on the « after » X-rays but -

Went down about 8:30
Chatted to various people the eventually the surgeon. As I expected it was too late to decide on a replacement k re (they don’t keep the parts in stock’) so hey ho

I agreed to be awake and just have the epidural type anaesthetic - on condition that if I got too stressed, they’d knock me out. This was agreed in and they linked some over ear headphones to my phone so I could listen to music

Really weird feeling being 100% sure your leg is on the bed but realising it’s being held up in the air - the broken one, so that should have caused screaming in pain, nothing!! Awesome

I could hear and sort of feel some of the tools, but where the feeling was, it was more the vibrations through my body than actual sensation

Finished a bit before midday and the only real issue now is that I’m still feeling queasy, but the rugby has started so at least I have a distraction. Impatiently waiting for the X-rays as my knee looks like a meccano set 🤣🤣

And a mate here happened to be in Albertville with her hubby and came to see me - bearing gifts!!!

Image

I don’t really do the girlie stuff but the boob scrub for shower made us laugh a lot. And that girl knows what’s needed - Terry choc orange and mint 💗💗💗💗

And my emotional support turtle is at my side too 💖

IIRC I was driving 4 days after my right TKR. I asked the surgeon when it was ok to drive at a follow up appt. He said "Whenever you feel you can"
Me: Great, that was a week ago...

X-rays showing the meccano skills of the surgeon!! Looks like it’s been thrown together but given the number of fractures I think he’s done pretty well 👍🏻👍🏻🤣🤣🤣

Hope they used Locktite on those screws. Otherwise in a year or two you will rattle.

@Taipan would have chosen that option as a keeper.

Looking at the bit they screwed back into place, a TKR might not have been possible.. or possible in the future

Hmmm. Not such a good day. Currently have a very sore area all around my knee

Basically I thought the knee had swollen more so peeked under the bandage wrap to see a pretty big blister 😳😳

So when a nurse came by I asked her to look, she rushed off to get someone more experienced and they had to peel the dressing as there were blisters down both sides of the wound (not a scar yet!) 😳😳😳

I don’t really understand but they said it can happen when the skin is too tight (I guess being sewn together and some swelling?). Whatever, pretty disgusting and painful to get dealt with!! Had a bit of a woozy moment just now but think that’s just a reaction to dealing with all that 🙄🙄

Anyway, until I work out how to block one person for one post on FB I can only share my not very pretty gash shot here 😇😇🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is the second time they’ve used the same scar for entry (third op on this knee) - surgeon did say that it’s a bit longer this time

Spoilers cos it’s not for the weak stomached!! 🤣🤣🤣

Luckily, in general I heal fast and well and scars do disappear after a year or so!! Phew 🤣🤣🤣
