Re: What have you done today thread?
Completed my Timothy Barton book collection (Metalshaping, The Lost Sheet Metal Machines, look em up). Already bought books #1-4 when they were first published, then the silly bugger went & died before he published #5-7.
https://www.tinmantech.com/products/boo ... chines.php
(Click *more photos* tab for contents of #3-7)
A while back someone sorted a deal with his family to get the last three books out & I'd been dithering about buying them for a while ($70 each). Thanks to that nice Mr Trump sending people some $$$ I finally bit the bullet & splurged. Postie just delivered them
Book #5 Covers every hammer, dolly & related tools (stakes etc) you can imagine & then some, plus how to make yourself a suit of armour.
Book #6 is 270 pages on how to scratch build a car body
Book #7 covers a few topics, but includes building micro car bodies & pedal cars.
Well impressed.

Shopping with the wife at 6am so we don’t need to go again until January
Then 8km run.
Then cleaned the bike.
Now for a bit of call of duty.

Made mince pies (well, tarts really) again - giving them away as pressies, so one more batch to do
attempted another stollen. I'm going to stop at Lidl tomorrow and JFBuy one
Made a cheesy quiche - which is nice!
Now got to find room in the freezer for some of the quiche and most of the flat, rock cake like stollen to be turned into bread and butter pudding or something at a later date!!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Had a coffee with the lovely M and fitted a new tap on her kitchen sink. She should have been in the UK now but was sitting at the airport in Istanbul when the Turks decided to stop flights from the UK. Turkish Airlines took the opportunity to immediately cancel any flights going to the UK so they wouldn't have to return empty. At least she'll not be in isolation here for 10 days and will get a better Christmas.
Personal stuff out of the way I made a template for some big holes I have to cut later on and made some doublers, using said template. Into Marmaris tomorrow with the other M for a load of supplies - epoxy and assorted paraphernalia.

Dealt with the fall out from a toxic relationship. Emotional abuse, manipulation etc. Kids involved. Poor girl had a breakdown, authorities called etc. Wife and another friend had to have a 5 hour intervention. What I'd give for 5 mins in a locked room with that cunt.

I warned you.
It starts off where you sink into their arms and ends up with your arms in the sink.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Checked the tyres pressures on the car.
They were all at 2.0 bar, so set them to 2.7 bar (as per the sticker in the drivers door shut).
I have no idea what a bar is, BMW don't put PSI on the sticker, but the digital gauge changes on the button.

Took the mighty Duster for a service and they gave us a Renault Zoe leccy job. It's quite fun to drive and has some proper waft
But there's a bloody annoying noise below 20mph like summat from a Sci-fi film. I've let her use it all day

That's probably the artificial noise generator...seriously.
Electric cars have to make a noise at low speeds so pedestrians and guide dogs can hear them. Since virtually all of them are silent they add the noise with speakers behind the grill.

The rule was only introduced in mid 2019.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Well, that was a fun shift!!!
Moist would be a massive understatement.
Ended up shutting J15 M1 slip roads due to massive flooding. That will be because the roadworks have led to all the drains downstream being ripped out and new ones built. Shame they don’t join yet!! So all the floodwater from the fields started filling up lane 1&2.
Left there and off to the A14. Runoff from the fields led to drains being overwhelmed, compounded by the contractors who get paid to maintain the drains, haven’t!! Dug out a few drains and removed all the crap, litter, grass etc while stood in a foot of water, unsurprisingly the water started to go where it should!,
2 hours late finishing, home, hot shower, cuppa and bed, knackered!!
Tomorrow I can do it all again.
Nite nite
Mick.
