Google destroyed my 4a with the infamous battery update. It changed a perfectly serviceable phone into one with a 20 minute battery life. I did replace it with an 8a and that's been as good as gold.KungFooBob wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 9:36 pmIsn't the 22 like four years old?weeksy wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 9:32 pm Samsung Galaxy S22 phone.

I'm looking at a Pixel 9, with a discount code you can get the base 9 for £370 (from currys), which undercuts the budget version of the same phone the 9A by £30.
I just need my almost four year old 6a to die first.

I must have 20 years on you and Lb but I sure has hell can still pick up a 3 tonne jack and carry it through the house to the driveway. Maybe drink soem more iron Bru!Felix wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 8:18 pm I presume you have a garage to roll it out from. This was my mistake as i only have a shed round the back of the house and humphing that around was a chore so it ended up living in the back of the van. My mate is a kerbside mechanic and wanted a low profile one what was handy so the swap was done

I don’t get to do many videos now and if I do, we have multiple iPhones for that purpose. I just needed a decent android at a reasonable priceFelix wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 9:46 pmDid you just get this? I went for the S23 Ultra as at the time there was not a lot in it in price but... Check the camera as some have the Super slow mo video recording. I seen it used with a guy i know taking a golf T off shot and the detail was very impressive indeed. Might come in handy with your Hobby/Sport.weeksy wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 9:32 pm Samsung Galaxy S22 phone.

I bought one of those about a year ago, it's been fine. I don't need the latest tech and this does what I need perfectly well. My wife has an iPhone and I can't get on with it, but then I don't really like any Apple stuff.weeksy wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 9:32 pm Samsung Galaxy S22 phone.

Well I've bought the Pixel 9 from Curry's. Couldn't miss it at £369, especially when it's now cheaper than the 9a.

Insanity! My Motorola Android cost me about $50 from WallyWorld & my cell service costs $39 every 90 days. It does everything I require of a phone.KungFooBob wrote: Sat Jan 31, 2026 5:29 pm Well I've bought the Pixel 9 from Curry's. Couldn't miss it at £369, especially when it's now cheaper than the 9a.

The good:
Following a discussion on FB among expats, I bought a 4 pack of Soreen Malt Loaves on Amazon.
The questionable:
Shrinkflation, the damn things are barely bigger than a Mars bar.

Last time I had malt loaf (after some years ..) I didn't like it at all. I feel like they changed the recipe, for the worse. And yes, definitely smaller.

Sports watch. An amazfit active2 no less. I tried a few (a couple of garmins, but didn't get on with them). Then I started on a long quest for something with big enough text for me to read without my glasses - no luck there, it would have had to be massive.
Eventually settled on the amazfit, simple enough to use without being annoying, and it turns out most watches will happily speak to you so the vision issue isn't an issue.
I use it almost exclusively for running.

My mum used to pack up a whole loaf, ready sliced and buttered and we all got a couple of big slices.
Oooh, listen to us old folk moaning

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
The women at work love these and bring in the mini ones that are stawberry and banana flavoured. I can rememer my mate Dad eating the original mlt loaf with a slab of butter as thick as the slicev of loaf he cut on top!DefTrap wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 5:17 pm Last time I had malt loaf (after some years ..)
