Wife an I both a bit knackered from work, kids etc, so booked to go to the Maldives in early March

I know I've only been back a week, but I'm already planning a spring get away in the foothills of the Dolomites.

I need something to look forward to.

Attempted to make some butter after watching Tour de Fred last night. I bought some blue full fat and blended it, but nothing much happened. Think the fat content isn't high enough ( according to Google) so it doesn't separate proper.

Please advise.

Got diagnosed with diabetes and immediately put on the 'Fast track remission' plan. I think that's shakes, soups and porridge.


I'm not super high blood sugar, but high enough and now several readings= diagnosis. I've kept that wolf from the door longer than I'd thought I would.

Diabetes tends to register markers for high blood pressure (mine is higher than it should be) and cholesterol (higher than it should be) but all 3 should be considered related (they are) and If I can lose 5% of body weight on fat camp in 6 months I'll almost certainly be 'diabetic in remission' and if I lose 10%, my bp and cholesterol markers will significantly drop

Buy some proper non homo....homo...homogenised milk. Expensive but tastes like real milk. You have to shake the bottle as the cream sits on top.
Supermarket blue top is processed watery shite.

Sounds similar to the plan my wife is on which has given good results.

I was just interested after watching it on TV. They poured milk into a jar with top on and shuck it for 10 ish minutes. After a bit it goes yellow and separates into butter and butter milk. They drank the butter milk and molded the butter into a solid square. Tbh, I missed the very first bit which was, what milk they used.

I blame the rain.

Whenever I've seen them do it on TV, they use a kitchen aid style mixer and it appears you have about a 1 minute window to stop it as it splits!

My Sisters mate made some just after xmas when one of the supermarkets had yellow stickered loads of unsold cream. I gather that's about the only time its financially viable, if you can get cheap cream, assuming its still fresh enough obvs?

Mate was in the pub at the weekend and told me this story of events. At the bar, a bloke in front of him (known heavy drinker) was ordering a zero % lager. Another bloke says to him, you're on the fucking zeros?!?

I did get confused when he told me he hadn't tried Yorkshire tea, only taitlait - honestly thought he was talking about some sort of milk but couldn't work it out God I'm a muppet sometimes

I think the lack of double cream was where I went wrong. When I bored again I may give it another go using DC.
