A bloody difficult thing to parcel forks safely. For future reference I'd be interested to see how the return packaging looks.
It'll be torture waiting for the weather to try them out.

Waiting for Parcel Force to bring my forks, so thought i'd throw in the new pads.
3rd set of pads in there since buying it 1100 miles ago.
Standard : not strong enough wanted more bite.
Brembo SA : too strong, crazy instant bite
SBS Street Excel :We'll soon find out

I've got them on my 1290GT and I did have a set on my GSXR a few years ago. Great road pads and did quite well on track too.
If you don't like them then you just too fussy ... which won't be anything new

They're what we've run on the ZX6R many times, so i think they'll be the Goldilocks.

I'd genuinely be interested to know if you could tell that they'd been swapped if you didn't already know. Thats not a criticism, I'm just curious.

TBH i'll be shocked if not mate. The difference between some pads are absolutely night and day. If i were to say use a figure of 'bite' or 'harshness' I'd put the Brembos at a 10 compared to a 4 on the standard pads.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:19 pm I'd genuinely be interested to know if you could tell that they'd been swapped if you didn't already know. The stock pads still stop the bike, but they're more trailing that slamming on for most use. With the Brembo SA pads it's WALLOP when you pull the lever... arguably a bit too much wallop for me.

Re: Happy new bike day.... WTF, what do you mean it's a Yamaha ???
I remember my old Viffer had shockingly bad brakes in the rain. It felt like 5 minutes between pulling the lever and stopping actually taking place. Obviously it was actually about 0.25s but it felt a lot longer.....
Rather than get new pads i just got into the habit of drying the brakes every few seconds while I rode along
So yeah I can see pads are gonna matter, of course they are. But as with lots of these things people do I wonder how much of it is placebo.

In some ways i'd be inclined to agree... but if you couldn't tell the difference between these as standard and with the Brembos in, i'd take your Arai Rapide off you and stop you ever riding againMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:31 pm I remember my old Viffer had shockingly bad brakes in the rain. So first we had this.

Then this, which was put to one side.

Out of the big box came 2 of these

Sadly, this one had a tiny mark like this.

But that's now sorted with touch up paint and is hidden under the plethora of cabling anyway
This was used to position the forks at the exact same height in the yoke

Pulled my calipers today and found they were fitted with some SBS pads already and theres still a good amount of material left on them .. resultweeksy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 9:13 am Well today may not be the most exciting update... but it's an update anyway.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-XSR-9 ... 1438.l2649
Since buying it i've felt the standard pads are a bit weak, but the Brembo SAs are too strong, give too instant and harsh a bite, both GP and Tricky thought the same. So i went back to the standard pads and was met with the "Oh jeez, i've got no brakes at all " thoughts on the rides i did. Like everything, you get used to it, but i still feel i want a bit 'more' but not necessarily that much more than the Brembo SAs give.
So a set of SBS have been ordered. Lets see how they feel on there

I've not tried the OE pads but I rode Weeksy's XSR with the Brembos and they were really fierce. I did my usual 2 finger light pull into a bend and nearly went over the front. I was brushing the lever with 1 finger after that and there still wasn't much modulation

.95s I believe.
I mentioned in a mail to him also about sag, preload and rebound which he informed me should all be set to my weight too already, which is impressive and very clever.
