Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
Or not as the case may be.
It's chilly and damp here, but nothing more than that.
I'm still struggling with the remnants of the lurgy... still hitting fairly hard at times and feel crap still. This is the longest i've been off the bike in a long long time.
I'm back on the spanners tomorrow though as long as mid-wales isn't snowbound, but will hear more on that today i exepct.
Other than that, it's a fairly quiet one planned this weekend.

Re: Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
Much depends on how bad this weather turns out to be.
First up though is to get down to my cabin, check the humidity and fire up the fan heater and panel heater. Never had a damp problem before but I went and got some clothing out of it and it smells 'foisty'. I suspect I was using it more during previous winters so it got regularly aired.
Got to take wife's car for an 'urgent' recall....booked 2 months ago.

Re: Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
Today I'm just chilling at home watching the snow outside - sadly it's too warm for more snow down here, but at least it's beautiful to look at
Will have to go out and desnow the car later and put a cover over the screen incase it snows again tonight cos
Tomorrow I'm pretty sure I'll be doing a transfer. With luck someone else will go up and collect the passengers from resort and I'll just have to drive them from the depot to the airport. But it'll still be a very early start!! Then, usually a long wait at the airport to collect the incoming passengers
Sunday I generally go up to resort to pick up guests and drive to GVA then wait and return with more!
Thing is - the office know that I'll struggle to put chains on/will probably need to call for assistance to put them on, so I'm a bit worried the office might not let me do the transfers
Hoping that they trust I can drive on the snow (in a big vehicle - haven't told them I am not so good at driving my car on snow!) and leave me doing the normal stuff, but who knows

Indeed, they've cancelled tomorrows event, so we're investigating plan B.

Re: Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
Going by the weather, very little! But if we do get a break i've a Fiesta that needs some paint work mopping with compound and some other detailing and then put up for sale. I also still have the decking project awaiting replacements of 3 rotten uprights then the boards screwing down and treated. The wife wants to go and look at new dining table and chairs and for once, I think that's my preferred option!
Re: Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
As I'm in one of the worst affected areas in Scotland for the snow (18 inches at last count and its still snowing), I've been at my mums for the best part of 2 weeks, so tomorrow will be trying to get back to my house...
If I get back then I'll be taking down my Christmas tree, cranking up the heating, packing for being away for work next week, and then going out with my cousin for an evening meal as it's my birthday tomorrow.
Sunday - probably facetiming my stepdad who is in hospital and having a relaxing day hopefully

Re: Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
Today:
WFH, getting lots of induction training out of the way. Looking at the snow out of the window.
Tomorrow:
Probably help shift some of the trees that have been brought down by the snow, and that t'other half is currently chainsawing.
Then a neighbour is coming up for some 'back to work' career advice - she's had a two year sabbatical, and needs a bit of guidance.
Sunday:
TBC.

Re: Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
Friday: at home.
Saturday: Off to Brighton early doors with my wife for birthday celebrations. I've booked lunch, dinner and a fancy hotel suite thing. Will also be getting a suit fitting. Will also have to sit through my wife getting a 'new wardrobe' of clothes, so making sure my phone is charged and I'm near a coffee shop will be key.
Sunday: returning home. Big dog walk. Try and unwind and not panic and year end tax returns (I've just paid my accountant to get it done..). My current estimate is about my owing £10k but I really don't understand what I'm doing.
Have a great one all.

Friday, dog walks, taking Diva Doglette to vets to look at a lump on her foot which is fortunately nothing to worry about according to the vet
, I've put a few pictures up and maybe a Thai for dinner tonight.
Sat and Sun might be helping SiL pack stuff as they got to move out of their rented accommodation soon and I'll be on shed clearing duties as she hates spiders.

Re: Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
Day off today as it’s my birthday. Been for a 4 mile run, out for lunch, car washed and now waiting to head out with my daughters for a meal at the local Indian restaurant which is thankfully crawling distance from the front door. Bets have already been placed in terms of how late they arrive…
Tomorrow, recovery, might continue with projects around the house or duff it all in favour a day of relaxation.
Sunday, 6.5 mile training run as part of the route to my first half marathon in a few weeks’ time, I doubt I’ll be doing much after that!

Re: Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
Rearranging the garage and binning stuff I'll need shortly after.
Looks like there's the room now for another bike.....
The weather is pretty decent here, though not dry enough for a run out.

I remember when a podding anniversary warranted a thread all of it's own.Count Steer wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 4:27 pmHappy Birthday Mr Car.Silly Car wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 4:17 pm Day off today as it’s my birthday. Re: Friday thread... The Jan snowstorm one.
Started spiffing the F350 for the first truck show of the year. Will finish that on Saturday for the show on Sunday afternoon (just need to clean the glass, give the tonneau a wipe & maybe polish those bloody wheels again). Weather guessers are saying dry & sunny for the next ten days, which also bodes well for the first Kaw meet of the year on the 18th, which will be the warmest day of the ten.
Taking the GPz11 over to a mate Saturday morning (another former Kaw mech) who has better ears/eyes than me so we can faff about with the TPS for a few minutes.
Might swing by the local brewery for a swift sherbert in the afternoon.
Sunday morning I may move the GPz11 outside & get busy with soap/water underneath the engine (it's really not too bad, there's zero rust/oil/grease) & the inside of the rear fender needs a scrub before getting goop applied to make the black plastic all shiny/spiffy. There's some chain lube up under there that needs to go... or I may do that Saturday morning before heading over to my mates place (more likely NITAI).
