Mate, I see that it sounds daft but I'm not a novice mechanic, I fixed sea harriers and lynx helicopters for 22 years and It's not my first motor removal, dropping the motor out of the Cannondale was a doddle because it literally dropped out of the frame, but the Whyte is an absolute cnut of a bike to get the motor out of because the frame wraps tightly around the motor and there's bugger all clearance for the cables going up and around it.
The motor just gets jammed until you get it into the perfectly right angle and then it slips out.

I get it don't worry... Simple fact is, on some bikes you've just gotta jam it back in there! It's not nice, it feels dirty doing it, just don't pinch anything and you're good.
I will say that the older 6 bolt mounts that Bosch/Shimano used were a massive PITA... The newer 2 bolt mounts used by Bosch on the Gen5 CX and SX motors is way easier as once you've got the cables where you want them and are holding the motor in position, you can just slide a long bolt all the way through one of the holes and without even screwing it in, the motor is now held in place... A nice little touch from Bosch to make mechanics' lives easier on the newer motor systems that most riders will never realise.

The EP8 in the Evil is a faff too, it’s very easy to damage the wiring loom refitting the motor.
