Today, drove to Chester, returned a pair of suit trousers, bought a shirt and some chinos, headed to the hotel for the night and took a, wait for it, run along the canal tow path, 3.2 mile round trip, 34 mins. The furthest I've ever run in nearly 55 years.
Well, live and learn. :) I lived close to Chester, spent a fair amount of time there and the missus worked there and I didn't know there was a canal!
Shropshire Union Canal, I ran out up stream, up over several locks into the wind, heading back was much easier. I chose the route as rivers tend to be pretty flat but didn't expect 4 locks along the way...

In some respects it's a shame it wasn't daylight to be able to see more of it than what the head torch showed.
I may have just forgotten tbh. Looking at the map I must have seen it. It was over 40 years ago though.

Nice place, Chester.

Another day, another city and another hotel...

Tonight's entertainment was the Northern Ballet performance of The Nutcracker, which was very good for my first ballet and some major points bagged from the invited clients.

Tomorrow, back home and back to normality.

Pedalled to Ironbridge for another warm sausage roll and tea. It's about 18 miles one way, so I'm on my limit here. On the way back, the slightest hill and my legs were gone. Going back Monday for Xmas pork pie in the car.

Nice ride though, filthy roads but all done on little lanes with zero traffic, pretty much. 👍

Wanted to make a copy of one of Lanzarote's most famous logos.

Marked quarters on original image then cut/cropped each quarter
Printed them out and cut the outline

Then traced onto plywood then used the trusty Makita 18v jigsaw. Light and gentle. Then spent ages sanding ready to paint.
I'm chuffed as never done any woodwork before :)

Forgot to update that as of yesterday the door is now hung and painted. Pretty much all that's left to do now is cosmetic (painting, and then little bits and bobs like a door catch, loo roll holder and towel hooks, which my dad is probably going to do, but I'm on hand for if wanted.)

So I'm now painting. Today I've done a coat of slightly green white (never understand why this is a thing, but my mum fancied it, so) on the walls, and primed the new woodwork ready for glossing.

Incidentally, glossing is my least favourite DIY job, for no rational reason 🥴

Ditto. I've found Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell the best to work with, with a gloss roller, brush and copious amounts swearing under my breath.

On the plus side, top coating means you're nearly finished, so you've earned that pat on the back and a beer.

Sorted out my bank accounts.

Easist? Metro. I'd like to close this account please. 30 second pause. Done, anything else I can help you with today?

Worst? Bank of Scotland. I'd like a replacement debit card please, this one expired months ago. What address would you like it sent to? That's not the address we have for you. And no, you can't change it over the phone, you have to go to a branch to do that sir. The other accounts have the new address, just not this one. The one I used to confirm my identity when I spoke to them some months ago to change my address...

Douglas Adams would be proud.

Card shopping for the third time.

Got a whole load of cards for family a few days ago. Discovered we must have picked up Son and daughter in law card instead of vice versa. So I went out yesterday to pick up a few things and got another card at the same time. Except I looked for it everywhere this morning and can’t find it.

So back out this morning to try again. I’m not letting it out my sight till it’s written and in amongst the presents.
