30yo ZZR11's are cheap as chips, ultra reliable, still capable of scaring you pissless/blowing your skirt up when the need arises & have that "old fart on an old Kawasaki" purpose gives the youth conniptions in the canyons.

... but also remarkably civilized/docile around town. I recently heard them described as a "ballistic couch"

I may be a bit biased....

You just have to be a bit careful when carrying a passenger as the aero tends to lift them off the seat at around 140mph.

I was lucky enough to work where I rode my employers bikes for the last 20 years of working for them Lots of bikes from 600 Bandits and CBR600F's, through to S1000RR's, 'Blades, GSX-R1000's, R1's, ZZR 1100 and ZZR1400's and R1250RS's (and a fair few others I have forgotten), as well as my own bikes.

These all great bikes, but inexplicably none of them make my short list.

The Tuono (and now the Benellis and MV's) have that "something different" that draws me to them

Can't fault your tastes. The V4 Tuono and MV Turismo Veloce are numbers 1 and 2 on my 'if I had a spare 15k' list...

Yep, the H2 was indeed a beautiful thing IMO, especially in bright sunlight, the build quality was definitely next level and I have some very fond memories of it.



It was, however, a complete chocolate teapot IMO- we had a (fully silenced road-legal) 248 rear wheel HP on BSD's dyno after a re-map, with silky smooth throttle response , but it was pretty uncomfortable to ride any distance on the road unless you were going far faster than is sensible , and far too heavy and had way too basic electronics to make getting it around a racetrack easy or fun.

Having said that it was one of those bikes that I got massive pleasure from polishing and I could just happily sit and look at and for hours





And those 120mph off-the-throttle wheelies were definitely something I would class as life affirming, and very addictive - if I had unlimited space and £££ , I would definitely have kept it just to look at and for those once or twice a year rides

But @Whysub - if you can get past the looks, try and blag a go on an MT10-SP (or even a non-SP) - even if you've discounted it already, if you've never ridden one, a ride might change your mind I reckon.
The SP version is (maybe?) blingly and rare enough to satisfy the slightly exotic criterea, and it really is a do-everything bike with the major emphasis on FUN, and a lovely sounding motor

Those MVs like Iccy had are stunning up close. I saw a couple parked up at a bike meet and they drew a crowd. They also sound gorgeous with a pipe on them! Do it!

Quite a few MV's have that hole under the seat, I think it's quite a nice styling feature. I'm not a fan of those Kineo wheels tho'

So, after looking around and pontificating for far too long, I'm now the owner of a Tuono RSV4 RR.

Not got it yet, it will be delivered next week. The dealer is going to service it, including the valve check and adjustment if needed, and do the ownership change.

@Tricky I rode my mates MT10-SP a couple of years ago at Flash's in France. It was great, very quick, handled superbly BUT it didn't feel anything special, if that makes sense. Sitting on it was like sitting on any other MT Yamaha.

I liked my RC8 and RC8-R, as they were both that bit different from any other KTM, so "special". The Tuono has that similar feel for me.

The local repair place had an MV Augusta Rush 1000 in for a service when I last popped in. When I had a proper look, I could see why they are €50,000. Everything looked beautifully made. Maybe if I win tthe Spanish lottery, but the Tuono will do for now.
