Safari

Post by Skub »

Any users out there?

I've used Safari for a few years, but of late it falls over a lot and appears to dislike any more than 2 or 3 tabs open at a time.

Just wondering if any others have the same experience. I've more or less switched to Opera for now, really liking the adblock feature!

I run Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon, and Firefox 84. Cookie autodelete, ublock origin and ExpressVPN. I'm surrounded by sublimely delicate and minimalist white on white webpages with a soupçon on info in the middle of the screen. Like a perfectly cooked nouvelle cuisine meal, enough to stimulate the senses and no more.

I use various browsers for different things, but mainly Safari for day-to-day personal stuff.

It has seemed a bit shit of late though. Occasionally get a warning about a page using up too many resources and possibly becoming unresponsive. Doesn't normally come to anything, though it does sometimes refresh the page quickly.

My biggest issue with it is that Chrome has become the new Explorer and a lot of lazy developers just make sure their pages work in that, regardless of whether they're coding properly or not. Feels like we're heading back to the dark days of IE at its worst but we'll see. Just about ok to use all the major ones for now.

FWIW, nothing wrong with Opera, but Firefox is very good if you were looking to use something else, and not Chrome for whatever reason. It fell behind years ago but it's pretty good again now.
