Wifey booked a flight to the UK for Christmas at the weekend. I messaged a few people to see what was happening here and we're now booked into a restaurant Christmas day. Apart from a gift for wifey my involvement with Christmas is done.

Xmas lost a lot of its excitement for me when my kids grew up. I still enjoy it, but its not the same.

Foreign drivers on Skye, twice now coming along the single track roads with passing places, I've had hire cars dive straight at me before realising their going the wrong way and correcting themselves, luckily I have been driving relaxed and not in local mode. It's obviously a problem as most roads and exits from attractions have drive on the left signage.

"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

I hope you enjoy it. We have done it a few times and it has always been a disappointment, Slightly mediocre food at a vastly inflated price. Even worse is going the whole hog with Xmas in a hotel, forced bonhomie, far too much food and a price in mortgage territory. We've done that too.

It's a decent Spanish restaurant. It won't be a traditional UK lunch but Spanish fare cooked on a BBQ, I'll let you know how it goes. Here's the website:

Take-away coffee cups

Or, specifically, tv dramas where they're waving cups around, sipping as soon as they're served, etc.

They're always empty!

No-one scalds themselves, or spill any ... At least put water in there
Even bland can be a type of character

I have a Iphone 13 Pro Max and the wife an 11 Pro Max. Normally I buy a newer one and pass my old one to the wife. Haven't bothered changing them for a while though, but I saw the iphone 17 is out now, so thought I may as well upgrade and pass my 13 to her indoors. Then I looked and the 256GB is £1199 and the 2TB is £1999! Wow. Didn't realise iPhones had got so expensive!

Father-in-law.

He was meant to be picking Mrs. G up from the garage today after dropping a car in for a service. She wakes up this morning to a Whatsapp message, 'Won't be able to pick you up, I'm in A&E at the hospital'.

WTF.

So she rings him in a panic. Turns out he's had chronic stomach pains so has driven himself to hospital and didn't call anybody (or wake up his waster son* in the bedroom next door) as he didn't want to wake anybody up. :wtf: FFS.

Suspected gall stone that has moved and is blocking his intestines. Gone down for surgery now.

*Mrs G goes to his house to pick up some bits as her dad is going to be staying in for a few days. Her brother is there. He mentioned at work that his dad was in hospital so they sent him home on compassionate grounds....whereupon he decided to wash his car. Not go and visit his dad, or call his older sister to find out how he is. Fucking twat.

I'm tempted to add a good squeeze of Cif to his car shampoo....

Just for context, this is the man who, when his mum died, lamented how he didn't spend more time with her, etc., etc.

He likes to play golf. His dad likes to play golf. Guess how many times he's taken his dad to play golf....

Also, when he washes his car, on his dad's drive, as that's where he lives for pittance, does his wash his dad's car that's next to his on the drive? Does he fuck.

He really, really BMP.

I subscribed to Money Saving Expert's weekly email. Gmail is convinced that it's spam even though I tell it every week that it's not. But it doesn't flag the real spam that offers to save me hundreds of $$$ on auto insurance or auto maintenance even though I tell it about every one of them.

For years and years, all bikes parked outside the local bike shop.
Recently the council decided to install 2 disabled parking bays.
There's bugger all else round here and nobody to use the spaces.
So the shop has to park their bikes about 100 yards away. Customers same.
Some crackpot idea :(
