Having a half day and it's sunny - just spent a couple of hours chilling in a sun chair. Was expecting it to be cold, but actually it was sunbathing temperature

I know it's not quite as impressive as the view from up in resort - but this did make me very happy , wasn't expecting so much colour in the east on a sunset !!

The houses here are built to cope with the heat. Almost 10c cooler inside.

Been an emotional couple of days as I've been unpacking boxes I packed before I moved here and some of the contents I've never actually looked through (letters and cards to my parents when I was born; letters that my BDad had saved, including letters from my mother before they got married, that box I've put back to read when I feel a bit stronger on that!!)

Photo albums of my BDad and photos that I've not seen for ten plus years

Then, having put together a book shelf, I went looking through boxes for books and found - Dough by Richard Bertinet


Soooooo glad I didn't buy it !!! It must have been in a collection of books I got secondhand, but hey - I have it

These two pics are 20 years apart and have made me grin a lot!! Part of the emotional stuff from the weekend, but these did make me smile very very much

My Mum put three photos from that film of me and my BDad in a frame but the frame is gold and the colours on the photos are a bit mad, so it's all a bit gaudy - need to have a go at scanning and toning them down (or find someone that can !! ) - then find a better frame !!

Drive up to my old resort this afternoon and in a brief gap in the cloud, there was snow on the mountains. No photo as was driving

But, got home and there was a small gap in cloud to show the snow on a mountain over in Les Arcs

It’s no Mont Blanc, but made me happy as ever to see snow

Having a chance to ride the Triumph for more than 5 miles! Had to get to the hospital for some hearing aid batteries, I was down to one!! So hopped on the bike and enjoyed a nice ride there, free parking and a nice ride home. No hassles, no silly people, pops and crackles from the overrun on the exhaust and the glorious soundtrack of a triple that has a free flowing filter and exhaust! Using the bike again tomorrow as I have a return trip to the hospital to have my hearing aid checked and my hearing checked, I'm getting more deaf, or the world is quieter....

A story my mate recounted to me the other day.

He works on site so gets to work very early. Grabs a coffee from a well known chain as he gets to his destination. As they've just opened he's the only one in there. He orders his drink and the lady asks him his name. 'Dave' he answers, surprised to be asked. She scribbles his name on the cup.
She then turns around, makes the coffee, turns back a minute later and looks around the still empty coffee shop with just my mate in it.
'DAVE!?' she shouts across the shop and, to my mate's incredulity, actually looks around the empty shop and waited for him to raise his hand.

Thats the kind of view you could never get sick of looking at. Probably wont happen there as that looks like evergreens but if i was to miss anything it would be watching the trees changing colour come the Autumn. Best time of the year to visit the Scottish Highlands.

Facetime! Wife and I were on FT to our daughter for 2.5 hours last night. Yakking away, with all of us having glasses of wine. Must be such a great thing for families living in different countries etc.

Brilliant for middle son in Oz. Last Xmas he was even able to take part in the family quiz. Tech makes the distance a lot more bearable.

That is one of the things I have missed all the time I was up in resort - autumn colours close by and spring flowers. I got to see spring stuff when doing transfers, but it's not like being able to sit and admire them near your home! Same with autumn colours.

There are some colourful trees around where I am - plum tree to one side of the terrace; walnut, pear and apple in the other bit of garden to the side. And all around the area too.

I am very much enjoying the colours properly for the first time in years

I love it - it's also the main reason that I stay on FB, so easy to keep in touch with my friends. But FT is fab (with the few family that can use it!) - and I use WhatsApp to call the ones that don't do FT !!!
