Lottery ticket selling points. They are usually sold in places where there is only one till open and people can spend ages selecting which types of ticket they want to throw their money away on or getting twenty weekly tickets checked through the machine just in case they failed to read their tickets correctly.
The pay at pump bit wasn't working at the petrol station today and I was next in line behind a woman doing her lottery, by the time she finished everyone else had finished filling their cars, were waiting behind me with a new line of cars waiting to get to the pumps.

My three year old Pixel 6a upgraded to Android 16 a few days ago, which is nice, but it's changed the system font to a more rounded typestyle and I preferred the old one. I can't for the life of me find a way to change it back, only the size.

Spending all evening updating the Tuscons HMI software. Over an hour to download from Hyundai to the MacBook and then on plugging the usb stick into the car it informed me the battery was to low so I’ve spent the last 40 mins driving around Eastbourne and the Downs as the bloody nav and dash update (no music either whilst it was doing this).

This ferry from Cadiz left yesterday, 90 minutes late.
I thought it'd catch up on the long journey.
Oh no. It's got an extra hour behind.
It's somehow changed the return port to Fuerteventura , but now I'll miss the ferry to Lanzarote tonight, so gotta book a hotel on Fuerteventura
And Pen's flies to UK tmrw morning so won't get to see her.

The start was moved to Gran Canaria, so I got ferry over there and hotel.
Then it stopped at Lanzarote anyway
They changed return to Puerto Del Rosario (as now) but laid on a ferry for all affected.
Now we know in advance where it goes
But I'm in an amazing hotel, just waiting for a reet big steak

People persistently parking in church only car park and stopping people with mobility issues being able to park there. I've left polite notices on the windscreen asking them not to park there and to move their cars. They keep coming back. I'm going to have to go Elijah on them now, fire and lighting incoming. Just a waste of my time in all honesty, I have better things to deal with.

Would a small donation to the local young poor kids magically make one of the tyres go flat at the bottom?the_priest wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 9:43 pm People persistently parking in church only car park and stopping people with mobility issues being able to park there. Aren't you supposed to forgive trespasses?the_priest wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 9:43 pm People persistently parking in church only car park and stopping people with mobility issues being able to park there. As to the forgiving of trespasses, indeed, I absolve them as well. But it requires repentance! Turn away from sin and be saved.Saga Lout wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 11:46 pmAren't you supposed to forgive trespasses?the_priest wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 9:43 pm People persistently parking in church only car park and stopping people with mobility issues being able to park there. I did not need a small donation, I just put a "Unauthorised Parking" sticker in the middle of their windscreen, very sticky glue that is a pain to remove as well. The car was gone this morning, as was the big Luton van as well. So job jobbed and peace is restored.

People do seem to think they have a right to park their vehicle on other people's property. We regularly have conversations with visitors to holiday lets reminding them they have ONE allocated space, and IDGAS if they have 2 cars.

This is both a
and a
I like oak trees and I'm very fond of the one by my drive...but...
Acorns!! Never known a year like it. Have swept umpteen kg of them up and put them in the garden recycle several times. Had to keep some back each time because if the wheelie bin's too heavy they, sometimes, don't take them. (I assume people try and get rid of soil in them).
Just been out to fetch the general waste and kitchen bins in. There's millions of 'em...again! Thinking of getting a couple of pigs to fatten up.
Drive over them in the cars and then there's crushed acorns everywhere - which the pigeons seem to appreciate. I imagine the mice have rigged up an acorn elevator to the garage loft!

What is a mast year? How and why it happensCount Steer wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 10:36 am ...

"One of the main theories for this behaviour is ‘predator satiation’. Take oak and beech as an example again. Animals like squirrels, jays, mice and badgers feed on the acorns and beech nuts. When the trees produce smaller crops for a few consecutive years, they are in effect keeping the populations of these animals in check. But during a mast year, the trees produce more food than the animals can possibly eat.
"This abundance causes a boom in populations of small mammals like mice. More importantly, it guarantees some will be left over to survive and grow into new trees. Mast years have a major evolutionary advantage for the tree. Producing nuts is costly work and slightly stunts the tree’s growth, but as it tends to happen every 5-10 years, it’s worth the payoff for some of the crop to germinate into new saplings."
