The murder charge is because he didn't call an ambulance, the police stopped him several hours later in his car, drunk. I'm not sure if the bloke was alive when help reached him but he pronounced dead at a hospital hours after being shot.

A long story short, met some Guardia Civil having a drink in a restaurant we were in. Got chatting through my (then young) Son talking to one of them. As we ordered our drinks to take through to our table we offered them a drink which they accepted. They said they stop in the campsite we were on as they knew the management and pop in from time to time. Sure enough they popped in afew days later and we saw them at the bar, so walked over to say hi. They got us a beer which we thanked them for and then they left. I said to my mate, they didn't pay for our drinks? He said i thought the same. No biggie, I'll get the bill. I asked the Lady, who we knew, and she said there is no bill as they never pay for their drinks and she wouldn't let me pay for them as they wouldn't like that. They're Police officers not mafia dons, but you could be mistaken for thinking something else!

The G.C. are hated in Spain. So much so that they cannot work near their home.
All the ones where we are, are from the Mainland. Most of their duties involve revenue earning. Road blocks every day somewhere.
But there's a huge Watsapp group warning of their presence.

The Guardia Civil were Franco's henchmen, basically the Spanish version of the Gestapo. If there was torturing or murdering to be done, they did it. Why they were never disbanded or even renamed I have no idea. People say they're hated but there's more to it, most of which harks back to which side your family was on in the civil war. I'm getting to understand some of it but to even mention the civil war or Franco you need to be very confident of who you're with.

Last time we flew out of Spain - August just gone - there was a proper log-jam at security, all down to a member of the Guardia who'd kind of taken control, shouting in Spanish at the passengers who were almost all not Spanish-speaking.

A G.C. car came and made me move about half a mile as I was blocking the road.
The island was shut down and only 2 vehicles allowed. Me and the course lead car with timer on roof.

I only met him once, 2008. He didn't swear at all

Since he 'left', I've not heard from him.

He had a dedicated website, Voyager02, but it's been offline for ages.
