It's the Friday thread! 15/08

Post by Mairi »

Back to the old days with me starting the Friday thread!! :D

What's everyone up to?

I'm working today then hopefully working in the garden this evening if it doesn't rain. Need to take the brambles out of the compost bin as not supposed to have brambles in there  shred my fingers to bits it is then!
Saturday my eldest brother is coming round to help me get a blind down from the spare room window, its too wide and heavy for one person, then more work to the spare room to get it ready for painting. And pulling up the carpet to see if the original floorboards are in a decent state. Might go for a walk along the beach after that to get out in the fresh air. May also check out another gym as the one Im signed up to, Im not getting the right vibe from. Forgot, I also have a ticket to see The Devout (Depeche Mode tribute band that are actually pretty good)
Sunday - out to my mams to see her and my stepdad. My youngest brother comes out too with my niece, so good family meet up

WFH today, then slog over to Lincolnshire to see the oldies for the weekend.
Monday, day off so either out on the bike or slobbing around the house depending on weather and mood

Making it up as I go along as usual. :D

Although one novel thing is prepping a shopping list in the hope that the cash from a life assurance/bond thingummy lands in the bank account next week. I'm going to treat myself to a few things + book a residential course for a few days in Oct.

The balance goes into the 'Smaug stash'.

(Well, the 'might buy a new car sometime or get a new roof on the house' stash).
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

Beach day today with a Cornish pasty for lunch. Then out on the town, we’ll harbour, tonight.
Tomorrow joining in with the 200th year celebrations of the harbour being built tomorrow. No idea what that entails but I’d guess stall selling stuff, sea shanty singers and various boat types making up a flotilla? Should be good anyway.
Sunday moving onto somewhere else for a couple days…

WFH today.
Popping out shortly for lunch and a gossip with an ex-colleague/mate.
Tonight: tidying spare rooms and making beds.

Saturday:
Final tidying.
Shopping.
Over to a mates to christen their new pizza oven.

Sunday:
Swimming. Got a new shorty wetsuit to try out.
And then... the in-laws descend for two weeks (hence the tidying, bed making, and shopping!)

I've got a stiffy.

Stiff and sore neck, that is,not used to being awake in the wee, small hours. I'm desperately hoping when I see a physio tomorrow morning that he'll have a miracle cure and I'll be allowed out to play. Failing that,it's Motogp Red Bull Ring on this weekend.

Only worked the morning today, but that's ok as it's a bank holiday so I get paid more :bblonde: :bblonde: Luckily, the supermarket was open anywya (some bonuses of being in a tourist area!!) so was able to get a few things to prep lunches next week. Downside is, home early and the temporary place has no sofa so sat on a kitchen chair dreaming of the day I can sign the contract to move to the new/nice place so I have SPACE and a sofa !!! No one around at the mo so just chilling. Well, actually, drinking rum - so probably won't make it out later if anyone is around

Saturday - will probably bake brownies and ginger cake early to leave them to cool for the day then head to my mates place and drink coffee and read a lot! Later I'll probably start putting my stuff into bags or boxes as hopefully I'll be moving in two weeks ish and really don't need all the stuff I brought to this little temporary place (I'd planned to cook and sew but there isn't the space for either properly :( :( )

Sunday - one week today my SDad, nephew, nephew's girlfriend and another mate of mine will be arriving to visit for a week, so from Sunday I will officially be on countdown   But will probably just go to my mates cafe bar to swap brownies/ginger cake for coffee
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!! :bblonde:

Today (Friday), forest dog walk before it warmed up, then sorted out motorbike insurance, the savings will pay for Hound 3's allergy meds for a month. MTB across the Downs with a "cheeky" run across Beachy Head to Birling Gap, Airbourne was just starting but the crowds on Beachy Head looked sparse compared to its heyday years. It was very warm.

Lazy afternoon and then a busy weekend at work on 12hr days.

"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."
