Biking Things to Look Forward To In 2021

Post by Yorick »

RTTL related...

Obviously the Portimao track attack.

And also having my very good pal Couchy over here later in the year . Gonna show him what proper Enduro is :D

Personally, more weekends and weeks away on the other islands.
Some pals are snowed under with work and need to make hay while the sun shines.
But others are a bit quiet.
Once things settle down, we can have some more fun.

We have plenty of road and enduro days now, but the island tours were summat else.

And also the enduro lads want some long weekends on Fuerteventura.

A meet up at a decent cafe.

A RTTL push bike/MTB group ride, I can tour de Sarf Dahns if anyone is interested (once everything has dried out).

Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. I am a millenial with a beard and a classic bike. How could I not? The fact they've moved it from September to May is a mere bonus.

I haven't met up with anyone from t'internet on a bike for years now. Maybe I should :D

Come down to Pembrey, it was only wet for the first session this year and the year before we got sunburn

I'm an event organiser, ride leader for a large club. Some of the tours I had arrange for this year had to be pushed back to next, so assuming things can go ahead it looks like this;

Easter: Small group to Wales (a warm up)
June: Taking a group to the Mach Festival - I'm treating this one as a chill and piss-up because I'm going from there to the next one which is proper serious
June/July: Large group to Wales
Sometime a trip to Nick Sanders Expedition Center (can't remember the dates but really should look that up and stick it on our website or it will be just me  )
I'll be doing lots of day rides around Kent/Sussex/Hampshire/Wiltshire
I'd like to get away on my own - meet up with friends up north.

This year has been really hard for organising tours, especially as there has been different rules across the country. I've wanted to jack it all in several times but some of the people who signed up above, did so in 2019 and they are hanging on in there. I managed to get a group Wales trip in in September this year and right up to the night before, no one was sure that it could go ahead. It turned out to be very special because of that with lots of hugs and sad goodbyes at the end.

It's a bit quiet really but mostly the usual stuff. A chunk of which depends upon the Zombies of course.

1. Portimao (50th birthday RTTL extravaganza)
2. Pembrey July/Aug. The typical RTTL weekend away
3. Liverpool / Wales jaunt. Just a couple of days away on my own most likely.
4. Bike Park Wales and Morzine. There'll deffo be BPW, Morzine depends on finances, i'd say it's 50-50 at the moment.

TBH - I think we should organise a RTTL meet - it would be a good excuse to get out one we are allowed to.

Nope, not sure if I can be arsed to go to Cadwell this year, I might just do Snetterton, I enjoy it and it's convenient so why waste time and sleep going further afield.

Because all the people you spend your time shooting the shit with on here are likely to be there. we often have 15-30 RTTL people attending the track weekend. It's epic beyond all words.

Assuming we're not still banned from the continent, then I've got a FLASH weekend booked (IIRC), other than that I'm just looking forward to doing some riding*.

* Currently the bike is parked up for 'domestic reasons' that are too complicated to attempt to explain.

I was going to suggest the back garden at Weeksy Towers ....

I understand it is a bit like cat herding - and the track day is always a real pain in the arse - but if we can find somewhere central ish it could work.

One thing that this year has shown is that some personal interaction might be good ....

A bunch of things postponed from this year. MotoGP, BSB, a trip to the Normandy beaches and war graves. All with my daughter and her partner. Two Harleys and a Honda.

Oh and whilst not strictly biking, Liege Bastone Liege and the Tour of Cambridge cycling events with my son. Both events completed many times before but still make me anxious as each year that passes the hills and distance get tougher on my ageing legs :|

I'm hoping the Welsh National Rally will happen in May, and that I'll be either vaccinated by then or t'other half will be, so I can go. Ditto for group rides. Ditto, maybe, for a tour.
