Tidied the garage recently. Sorted everything. Put them in appropriate labelled bins. Chucked the crap. I found my spare feeler guages, which I rarely use. Today I find a use for them - can I find them?!

No. Many electric scooter journeys, one circuit in the van to pick them up and redistribute them. "Many" depends on the size of the van.inewham wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 5:49 pm Not BYP, just raise an eyebrow...
We have 'leccy scooters on trial in Nottingham. They're going to save the planet apparently, my son thinks they're ace. However students pick them up in town then dump them in Wollaton or wherever, then a man goes around in a van to pick them up.
Consequently for any given journey, theres 1 trip for a leccy scooter plus a trip there and back again for a man in a tranny van

There are two or three different scooter schemes here. I regularly see a Limewire* one abandoned/parked in the same place miles from anywhere. I'm half tempted to hang around and see who the hell is leaving it there.

My mate had some Chinese rock hard ever last tyres that were horrendous, you could set the steering angle into a roundabout in his mini and then use the throttle to correct your line the over steer was so bad.

So matey blew me out Friday which was fine as was raining anyway and I knew it needed more than a polish (which is what he said it'd need).Supermofo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 4:46 pm Had a very small dent in the wing of my car that some nice soul did somehow the other week. No paint damage just a dent. Chips Away arrived to repair it today but I had to go out. Bloke said I'd not notice it had been there when he was done.
Mrs checked dent gone, paid and off he went.
I get home check and half the wing has a different finish to the rest and is really flat, dull and rippled Gutted. Before it had a small dent, now it looks like its had a shit respray on half the wing.
He's coming back Friday. But not holding my breath. Wish I'd have left it now
He came this morning and agreed the paint had really flattened off and he apologised and said he'd re-do it. 2 hours later and 2 me taking cups of tea out and asking if it's ok he says it's done. I have a quick look and it does look better but I move the car out into the light as it's shady by the garages. Get out the car and he's driven off.
So in the light the top of the panel is much better but from the top of the wheel arch down it's still not right. Mottled and flat and rippled/rough at the bottom of the panel. I call him and ask him to come and have a look and he says he'll come back Thursday "Just needs a polish" (well why didn't you do it then!!!) as he's late for his next job. Sent him a message asking where we go from here as he's had 2 goes and its still not right. He said he'd sort Thursday and if I'm not happy he'll refund me. Which isn't what I want to be honest. The car looks worse than it did with the dent.
In the meantime called Chips Away and asked what happens now. I want the paint sorted.

It's probably why he did such a bad job of the paint work, I kept t-bagging him

Few years ago a mate had a similar problem. The phone call to chips Away resulted in it being sorted out to a very high standard, and groveling apologies.Supermofo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 3:29 pmSo matey blew me out Friday which was fine as was raining anyway and I knew it needed more than a polish (which is what he said it'd need).Supermofo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 4:46 pm Had a very small dent in the wing of my car that some nice soul did somehow the other week. People who, with the very best of intentions, slow down and then stop to let you cross the road, when there was nothing behind them anyway and had they kept going, would have been long past you in the time it's taken them to stop and you'd have been on the other side with the chicken.

Conversely, people who see you waiting to cross, see the queue of traffic and instead of stopping three feet back and thus allowing you to cross conveniently, stop dead in front of you,
Now that is piss boiling.

I know what you mean - in a way though, it's your own fault for standing by the road waiting to cross when you can clearly see that there's a gap behind them.gremlin wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 12:49 pm People who, with the very best of intentions, slow down and then stop to let you cross the road, when there was nothing behind them anyway and had they kept going, would have been long past you in the time it's taken them to stop and you'd have been on the other side with the chicken.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Similarly when I'm waiting to cross with baby D I usually don't cross when someone stops. I don't want her to learn its OK to step in front of cars, not for a long time yet anyway! She can't understand when a driver is waving her across.gremlin wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 12:49 pm People who, with the very best of intentions, slow down and then stop to let you cross the road, when there was nothing behind them anyway and had they kept going, would have been long past you in the time it's taken them to stop and you'd have been on the other side with the chicken.

That's true, but what really cheeses me off is that the chicken will then decide it wants to be back over the other side.gremlin wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 12:49 pm People who, with the very best of intentions, slow down and then stop to let you cross the road, when there was nothing behind them anyway and had they kept going, would have been long past you in the time it's taken them to stop and you'd have been on the other side with the chicken.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
So I call Chips Away again and still waiting for a reply. I text matey and say don't come today as I've lost faith and I want to see what chips away say.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 8:52 pmFew years ago a mate had a similar problem. Matey turns up anyway and says let me have a go at polishing it. I say no. He says let me try and then see.
So against my better judgement off he goes. 1.5 hours later he's done. And its still not right. Its much better but as this goes on I'm getting more into looking.
So there's still a slight line at the bottom of the panel where there's a join in the paint. In places the finish is still mottled/pitted along the top of the wing, top of wheel arch and bottom of the panel. A glance and you'd probably not notice but once seen is hard to unsee. Here's a small example

Then I'm looking at the bottom of the A pillar and see this chip out of the paint. Presumably where he re-finished it and whilst polishing its come away. Might be hard to see in pics but given this is a 3rd attempt I'm not happy with it.

Then at the front of the wing is a paint run.
So he's said another rep will contact me. At this point I want to talk to chips away first. I had a small dent (which you can still tell was there but not terrible) now I think I need the wing redoing. Not sure if I'm expecting too much? But wasn't expecting to so obviously tell its been done
