At the top of the “Stelvio Català” this afternoon, on the way from Idiada near Barcelona to Andorra.

Great bit of fun :)

2 weekends in a row, I have managed to get out and about.

Nothing beats an early Sunday morning bimble around some deserted country lanes.
Leaving at about 8ish you can wander about the villages and hamlets of Middle England and not see another vehicle for miles.
Throw in the great weather we've recently had and you have a perfect mix for spending a few hours away from it all.

Last weekend I stopped at cafe at an old WW2 airbase for a coffee, then about an hour later passed by another similar old RAF Station and I bet that the roads I travelled had not changed much in the past 80years, so it's not unreasonable to imagine that someone back then had travelled the same route on a similar sunny Sunday for very different reasons.

The backdrop in this pic gives an idea of what I mean.

Went on a pal's enduro tour. He wasn't sure if he'd be well enough to go, so I was backup. He did come but after an hour he had to pack it in and go home.

So I carried on with customer following me.

Was first time I'd seen Paul on the big beasty and it went well :)

In short - I love it, thanks for asking. It fits like it was made for me and doesn’t do anything badly.

Gets a little tiring in the legs but then we’re doing 8-9 hour days on this trip, so that’s fair. I spend a lot of the straights stood up to get some rest and airflow (it’s been consistently 35 degrees or more) & have taken to doing the Rossi leg-dangle into corners for the same reason. I can only imagine what people think…

Today was N-260 day which we’d been looking forward to. It didn’t disappoint, an awesome road with fantastic scenery. Here’s a couple os examples:

Towards the end of the day google maps sent us down a twenty mile single track b-road, with tarmac like Deadpool’s face, which ended up with great big signs reading ‘Fin de la Carreterra’ & we had to do the next 10 miles down into the valley on a gravel road before fuelling up in some sort of tractor service station at the bottom….

The wideangle makes the road look wide, but it's actually quite nadgery.

The local VMCC had three days of runs, very well attended and some very expensive machinery being used as it should be. Some great characters riding them too. I called in at one of their stopping points, just for a look at the bikes.

I planned and executed a ride for 80 bikes today - no drama.

We started and ended at Ockham Bites (A3/M25 junction).

By chance there was a bloke with some drones there who made this video - here it is.

Chickened out.

The yellow arrow on the left is the way we arrived. The red one is how we left - down a set of stairs - that we did check out - but then up a concrete slope that we didn’t. Let’s just say it was steep enough that stopping would have been the same as falling off.

You may notice that the two arrows start / end at the hotel car park for the hotel that we were meant to use…

Left Villoslada de Cameros to head for Burgos to try to buy an Insta360. The first hour was just fantastic with roads like this and the weather still cool.

The next leg to Burgos was horrible, though. All straight roads across a scrub plain as the temperature got up past 30. Getting close to the Picos made up for it.

We’re now in Potes for a couple of night or so to have a look around the Picos.

Had a stop in Scorton & got talking to couple of blokes, one on a modern T120,the other on a modern BSA.It's the first time I've seen one of those Mahindra/BSA bikes, the owner said the enclosed/covered forks aren't his style but he enjoy's riding the bike & he's thinking of gettting one of the Scrambler's next year.

South West out of Potes this morning down to Riaño. Feel free to look up the N-621 on your maps app of choice - it’s a corker.

My brother found the “most beautiful bench in Léon” - this is the view from it. Photos don’t do it justice, I stared at this scenery for a good twenty minutes.

Leaving Riaño we got stuck behind a Guardia Civíl-accompanied convoy of migrating sheep - took an hour and a quarter or so for us to be able to get past, shortened the day a bit.

On up to Cangas de Onia for lunch and then completing the triangle back to Potes via some lovely deep canyons.
