XSR is ace, but sometimes it's a bit Japanese. And not orange

Probably need a long distance tourer, and if so, then the Yamaha FJR1300 fits the bill.

Turning up for my police refresher, I was initially disappointed that they had an FJR for me to use. Excellent bike, great handling, smooth engine, superbly comfortable for me, and deceptively quick (not than I am allowed to do those sort of speeds again legally....).

It's not an easy choice. Jollies, track and trips are what I need to cover. Tracer does it all very well, but, I simply fancy a change every 1,2 maybe 3 years. Warranty also plays on my mind these days, with some brands. I'll be looking at the Tuono 1100v4 next year, but not sure that would be ideal. Tank range, heated grips. ?? MT09 is definitely up there. Doubt the Tiger 850 sport will be as much fun as the tracer. 🤔 I think I really need 2 bikes. Keep the do it all, dependable tracer and get another for that feeling of riding something a bit special. iykwim. 👍

I'm still planning getting a XSR900, specifically in 60th yellow.
I'm hoping it will be:
  • thumpier and comfier than my 675 street triple
  • better than my 955 speedy
  • as fun to wheelie as my 1200 bandit

What's on the list then, what's the potential purchase ?

i'm fighting the 690SMC-R love at the moment... funnily, also the ktm 790....

Both of them, despite not being as good as the XSR, i'm just not sure what makes me think "mmmmm"
Adam currently has both in his garage iirc as i get confused as to which 4 KTM's there are

If i remember its 690 SMC, 790 Adventure R, 390 Duke and a 390 Adventure

He even has KTM mats under the bikes......... i barely speak to him because of this Orange obsession but at least his excuse is he started ginger

I still want an early 90's GSXR1100. I predict the Guzzi being sold soon as the sun comes out again...

Unless I win the Euro's then it's an RC45 and an SB8R.

I bought the tracer 900 but tbh I can’t see it being used, I really like my 250 rally so may chop the tracer for the 300 rally and sell my 250. Anyone want a new tracer done 110 miles and 6 weeks old lol

Nothing's catching my eye as I'm settled with the current fleet but I'd love to try a Triumph thruxton r ... maybe ;)

Ditto - but having bought a 25 years old speed triple it isn’t going to happen. Plus the 1200 Scrambler I have is far more practical

They were horrible beasties. A good mate who was a TT 2nd place man, bought one and hated it. Even is sponsor couldn't make it nice.

Thanks! I might take you up on that. I was pencilled in for a demo but the weather went all northern before I got my act together.

Maybe because 130 ish bhp looks less than impressive by today's litre sportsbike output?

On the listing for the Carbon one (yes he's got two!) he makes this comment...

Only selling for personal reasons .I am a private seller and have a listing of my SB8R red so if interested in either mail me.
I really don't want my family to have to sort selling these in the future I dont think they would give all the information as it should to a buyer.

I might be reading a bit too much into that, but it sounds like he's dying?

It also reminds me of "I'm selling my bikes now so that my wife doesn't sell them for what I told her I'd paid for them".
