Today I've had an awesome lie in, put some washing on (it's just finished, so will be turning the radiator on and hanging it out to dry!!), done a bit of cooking and a bit of cleaning. Much more to do but I took a break to catch up here and watch/listen to some bikes on the tablet !!

AND - found a Wispa at the bottom of the bag I took away - turns out it got a bit hot somewhere (probably the back of my car!) Luckily it still tasted ok :bblonde:

Yesterday now !! I went to Turin / ToooRan / Torino yesterday :D Passenger with himself ! Awesome to spend loads of time with him, but damn that jump seat/suicide seat/guide seat is NOT the most comfortable place to sit for a few hours !!! I think I needed shorter legs and a smaller arse

Didn't do much walking around - dropped the passengers for a market and then parked a bit further away and walked back for coffee, met other drivers for coffee, then we all went for lunch, then chilled by the river till the passengers were ready to go back. Did a quick (ish - herding cats comes to mind!) stop in Sousa for cheap cigarettes and booze (apparently!) then back to the start point! madness, but lovely :D :D :D

Nice and gentle sunrise at the pick up point :D

Image

At the coffee stop half way a load of British cars turned up all wrapped with weird themes (!!) - apparently just a trip through France, Germany and (maybe) Austria then returning to the uk on Monday!! They all seemed to be having a great laugh. When I asked about the wrapping; they said that the cars are all pretty old and were very cheap when they were bought, so it's just a bit of fun

No idea what they threw in that last car or why, but I did get quite a bit of stick about Brits coming over and leaving a load of shit everywhere in the parking area

Just stunning views on this motorway!!

Image

I was looking the wrong direction when OH called out "cascades, cascades" !! The best of the awful photos of one of the mountain waterfalls !

Image

Didn't think I'd managed to get a pic of this sign! the next pic show it better - no cycles, horse and carts or handcarts

I do love how so many of the European cities and towns have roads lined with trees. I suppose it's cos they have a warmer climate but it is bloody lovely to look at (better without the reflection through the windscreen, but where we parked I didnt get a chance to take a better photo!!)

Image

Some of the architecture was just lovely - some was modern and much less lovely! I could probably spend a lot of time walking around looking up at the buildings, luckily I had someone holding my hand so I could do a bit of that with less risk than normal!!

Image

Image

I tried cockles for the first time ever (that was interesting, himself trying to explain and me having almost no idea what I was about to eat   ), never thought the first time would be in a spaghetti dish!! bloody lovely

Image

Then we headed back to France ! On the way in OH had called out "castalle" at some point and there was indeed something on the point of a bit pf mountain but my photos in that direction were terrible (we were basically driving into the sun in both directions :( )so on the way back I looked out for it. Then googled as it does look worth a visit sometime (probably when I have a bike!)

Image

Image

The rest are just some gorgeous views of (apparently) the Tarentaise mountains, but from the "wrong" side !! Very gorgeous from either side !!

I did intend to get an ugly mugs photo of us both but by the time I remembered we were both knackered (almost at the end of the return trip!) and apparently my cheeks were very red !! He said sunburn but it was through the windscreen

But hey, a good day for all I think :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Looks like spaghetti alle vongole to me.

(Clams - similar and often the terms are swapped about but not 'true' cockles).

I can't remember what the menu said - didn't understand the French or the Italian

But when I googled cockles and asked for images, they looked the same - but as I said, I've not had them, or seen them as far as I know

They are very similar and I'm sure most of the population wouldn't notice the difference. :D (I'll bet some UK restaurants serve up 'alle vongole' using Morecambe cockles too).

I wouldn't leap at the offer of half a pint of cockles (or winkles - and whelks are just bleurgh) served up in the traditional 'Friday night in an English pub' fashion but spag al vong is

The official (ie Google :D ) line is:
'No, vongole are not cockles, although they are both bivalve mollusks. Vongole, also known as venus clams, belong to the Veneridae family, while cockles belong to the Cardiidae family, also known as the Heart Shell family.'
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

Been out on my BSA, followed a blue Abarth 131 Rally for a mile or two before it turned off, I don't think I've ever seen one before.

Knocked over a brand new tin of paint on the landing, which proceeded to pop open and spill all over the floorboards. 🤬

Handily, the reason I was moving stuff around and knocked it over is because this week is 'start to renovate the landing' week, so no major issue. Just fucking annoying.

Hope it wasn't that Tikkurila stuff I recommended, that's not cheap ;)

Never heard of it, so it wasn't me you recommended it to. I am now going to look it up out of interest though.

I'm a big fan of Earthborn claypaint personally, but this was some Ronseal tile paint that we bought to make the old bathroom bearable, and then never bothered with. So nothing that will be missed, handily.
Annoying that it was unopened and still popped open when it fell over (not from a height) though. Meh.

I knew it wasn't you I recommended it to directly, but I sort of remembered you might have been sideways lurking! It was when someone (CJ I think) was commenting you probably can't get proper old school gloss any more and I was just pointing out you can :D

Fair suspicion! My old house involves a lot of 'breathable' requirements, hence the spendy clay plant etc.

That reminds me. A friend wanted a new stair carpet. I told her to chuck a tin of paint down it and claim the insurance. She did that and told the insurance the dog knocked it over. Sorry you are not covered for pet accidents

Bank holiday innit. Walked the dogs, went to the tip, took the youngest to a car boot sale, looked online for shiny red momosickles, went for a pint, cooked a gammon I won in the pub meat raffle.

Despite his insistence on causing major injuries to himself, I am in fact the clumsy one 😬

I went to a pub today (for a meal), they had estrella galicia on draft.

The wife had two pints.

I was driving so was on Carling shandy.

She only ordered it to annoy me.

Is that not a light version of Estrella Damm? I like the Damm but as i need the Gluten Free version. £7 for four 330ml bottles is taking the piss. If your and your wife like light lagers try Tennents light or Skinny Brands beer. Both are low sugar, low alcohol and Gluten free without taking the piss on price.

Me too. Had the *meaty* pizza: sausage, pepperoni etc.. & slices of pickled red onion. It was fucking lush :)

Also had two pints of ESB :)
