After a great week away with the family, and a busy day in the garden yesterday, this morning was a perfect opportunity to get out for a bit of two wheeled therapy.

Just under 100 miles, around Northamptonshire and Warwickshire where The Old Depot and Gilkes Cafe were very busy with bikes and cars old and new.
Even so most of the roads I took were empty, plenty of space to be alone with the beautiful spring countryside passing by with all it’s colours, sights and smells.

In all about 4 hours, 2 coffees and a flapjack, then petrol light came on the last leg home wrapping up another fantastic sunny Sunday morning.

Here’s a couple of shots from when I stoppped to snap some sheep for the riding challenge.

Fantastic day for a first day back. Left just after 8 and headed to a cafe in Hatfield Peverel where I tagged onto a mate's rideout. Full English and a chat and they were on some nice bikes. The mega mile 1190 Super adventure, Tracer 9, 1200 Multi, V4 pikes peak Multi and a XR1000M with carbon wheels and full Arkra etc. I was conscious it was my first ride of the year and generally I steer clear of group riding but it was a fairly quick but safe ride, rode for about 1.5 before a stop in Great Barfield. They then head back Braintree/Colchester way so I split off and headed to Saffron Waldon and home via Barley/Barkway. By the time I got home I'd done 144 miles, nice 8-)

No scenic pics as was too busy riding but 5 of the 6 bikes.

Was just thinking about this pic. My bike has a quoted 148bhp and it was 2nd least powerful of the 6 bikes out on Sunday  150bhp used to be the preserve of WSB bikes, now it's not enough to top trump some Adv bikes on a Sunday jolly

I'd rather the manufacturers touted 20kgs less weight, than 20bhp moar powah. We need a lightness race.

And something like 50% of that power will only rarely get used. Last time I did any "properly fast" riding I was chasing a very fast rider on (iirc) a Tuono, but all 85bhp of the mighty Rockster's torques were capable of keeping up without bothering the red line too much. ;) :D

I've commuted three days on one of my bikes this week... 150 miles.

I've ridden like an utter, complete, tosspot wanker.

On average completing the journey 10mins quicker than in the car. I've filtered like a right knob, pushed in the front at every traffic light.

Tonight I did my place of work to BMW dealership in 23mins, when google maps said 40 mins.

I did it in a brown leather jacket and a pair of Gant chinos.

I'm trying my best to break the GS stereotypes.

I'll be back in my diesel Volvo tomorrow.

I'm tall and fat with long arms. I wear a lot of Gant and Hilfiger, it just fits.
