Rapha festive 500
Only recently learnt about this. Every year Rapha have it, cycle 500km over 8 days. This year they have allowed them to be completed in doors. I’d have to do out doors as I do t have a trainer.
I’d love to try and do it, works out 63km a day. Depends on work though. I guess it’s going to be tough, depends on my shifts and days I get off.

Re: Rapha festive 500
As we go away at Xmas and some of our riding would be in the woods/mountains which will mean i'd need to put in about 150km on the other days.

I can’t remember the last time I cycled 63km in a day let alone back-to-back. 2012 maybe when my employer did a team building ride.

it's not supposed to be easyBeancounter wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:02 pm I can’t remember the last time I cycled 63km in a day let alone back-to-back. 2012 maybe when my employer did a team building ride.
Doesn't help in the context of 1. it's winter and 2. you ride off-road.

Re: Rapha festive 500
Thing is, 63km on a flat circuit should be doable even by me but I think I should start with just getting out 8 days on the bounce.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:05 pmit's not supposed to be easyBeancounter wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:02 pm I can’t remember the last time I cycled 63km in a day let alone back-to-back. 2012 maybe when my employer did a team building ride.

My colleagues are not ready to see me blowing out my arse following a short Zwift session. HR would be on line 1 before long.

Re: Rapha festive 500
Hamster wheeling isn’t cycling it’s indoor exercise so doesn’t count, there’s no riding skill involved at all, no Adrenalin and no fear. It’s there for exercise only and bears no resemblance to riding a real bike

Re: Rapha festive 500
Totally agree, 2 wheels for me is about speed and fun and not exercise

Re: Rapha festive 500
I think it will be a good (bloody hard though) challenge
Fun and a bit of exercise
But to be honest is depends on if I am working or not

Edit: Just seen BBC, I’m guessing the tier 3 for London.

Re: Rapha festive 500
Did the last 85km today, and it was the hardest out of all the day’s, it started at -1 and got up to 1, my winter gloves have not arrived so was making do with 2 pairs of not so winter gloves, 1km in and got my 1st and only puncture (very lucky I know)
At 30km I wanted to curl up and give up, everything was so cold.
Zip on my 3 week old jacket also broke, but apparently Rapha are great with stuff like this.
