Despite my lack of sympathy for some socialist ideology I have always paid a voluntary NI stamp, despite not living in the UK and/or requiring NHS treatment for a couple of decades.
The NHS dealt with my cancer when I was nineteen years old, so even if I never go to an NHS hospital again I'm going to carry on paying my stamp, fundamentally I like the idea of it - but I think that by the time you've had fifty years on the planet you should have provisioned for yourself, so I hope I can continue to put a bit in and take nothing out.
I suppose that means I'm entitled to a state pension as well, although I have no idea what state the state will be in by then.
