I'm now past the 300 mile stage and it's unleashed a whole 1000 rpm!

It still flashes like mad should I exceed 6000 rpm, but in 6th it's enough for just under 80 (on private roads m'lud).

This has to be the most gentle running in period I've experienced.

Apparently, once the first service is completed it still incrementally hands out extra rpm until a 1000 miles.

It's a great bike to ride. Really easy going.

I never paid too much attention to the limits when I had mine. First couple of hundred didn't go above 6/7k, then after that I occasionally took it to 8/9k as long as it was warm. They are great little bikes, I miss mine to some extent.
